Happy Birthday to Capher and to Cruci!  May you have many more! (And spend them here with us!)

*Alysse gives Mira a big smile.  At least, all her teeth are showing.*

Knife?  What knife?  Oh you mean THIS one?  Oh, nothing, just making sure it's sharp.  When you skin animals, knives NEED to be kept sharp.  And I have some hunting to do today.

*departs with an innocent expression*
33  Santharian World Development / Cosmology, Myths and Religions / Re: Perspectives on Undeath on: 02 October 2010, 09:13:23
The Kuglimz people would view it very like the Ice Tribes.  When something is killed it ought to STAY dead! They'd see it as against nature and therefore suspect, because they are very close to nature and understand natural processes and cycles.

Or possibly the Groves of Ronoth, to indicate a certain part of the forest?

My guess would be that orcs (except for the Ximax ones) would feel very strongly against it.  Once you've killed someone, he shouldn't be able to get up and come after you.  They'd probably feel that it was very dishonourable not to stay dead once you were made so.  Orcs have a very rigid code of honour (though it is different from the human one) and I think they would be appalled at the idea that the dead could be raised.  I suspect that most of the Northern Sarvonian orcs, no matter what the tribe, would feel this way.

Welcome, Perab!

I'm impressed by your enthusiasm and interest.  Indeed we may be able to use your technical expertise--have you discovered Santhworld?  If not, do check it out, you might be able to help with that as well.  But do make yourself at home, we love enthusiastic newcomers here.   And feel free to explore and pelt us with questions, somebody will be sure to help you out. And if anyone invites you to examine his greenhouses, go right ahead...as long as you have a suit of full plate armour, a pair of sharp pruning shears and a few gallons of weed-killer. ;)

Thank you, everyone! *blushes*

Re: Seeker; I may be fond of orcs but they've got nothing on beautiful big barbarian humans, trust me.  *purrs mischievously*  You do know we have four children, right?  :D

Auras are a point system we have, just for fun, as a way of recognizing a member's splendid work.  It's just a little extra way to acknowledge appreciation.  I think once you have reached 100 posts, you are allowed to vote aura points for people.  There's a maximum of one point per person per day.

Certainly we can use an artist who specializes in symbols and stylized drawings!  You might be able to help out with designs, say, for noble or royal families, or possibly heraldic patterns or coat-of-arms?  I'd like to see more of your work.  Do you use colour at all, or is it mostly black and white?

40  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Herbarium / Re: The Mithril Tomato - for Artimidor, whose casual reference inspired this plantl on: 01 October 2010, 13:35:01
Yum!

Looking forwards to those Barbarian Mithatos!  Of course, they won't be called that (at least not in the vicinity of a Kuglim warrior)

Let's see, the Kuglim would call them Vla'wuk'alth--shortened to Vlukath (meaning doesn't translate well, but it approximates "armoured fruit".)  And I know that according  proper Kuglimz grammar it should be Alth'wuk'val, but that is much more awkward to say and doesn't shorten well either.  So, "Vlukath" is the Barbarian Mithato, unless anyone's got a better suggestion?
41  Santharian World Development / Santharian Artists Workshop and Resources / Re: Nehtor Dances, Brooding on the Ills of the World on: 01 October 2010, 12:56:32
A beautiful piece!  I especially like the solemn expression--"brooding" as you say.  And the "Krishna" pose works really well, evoking a sense of the mythical/mystical somehow.

Aura + 1 from me!

Though I really like the Water Staff, I think the Darkness one is particularly dramatic...but it was a tough choice.

Can't we put them all in?  They're all spectacular!

Congratulations, Shayan!

I love the Taenish!  They look smarter than RL chickens, too--those don't have that much personality :)
45  Santharian World Development / Miscellaneous / Re: Infection Cures on: 01 October 2010, 10:25:42
Just trying to resurrect this old thread.  You should mention the use of maggots to eat rotting flesh.  That's an ancient RL technique (look up "Maggot therapy" if you don't believe me) It's such a cool concept, it would be perfect for Santharia.

I've been doing some research on herbal healing methods and I'd like to use some of these in Santharia, but I'll need to check out whether we need to develop some new plants as well.  That's likely.  I'm hoping to get some more medicinal information and techniques on the site, so thought I'd pull this thread and see what unraveled.
