1  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Suggestions for Xarl and Tarquet regarding wizardly magic. on: 07 March 2002, 19:29:00
Gods not controlling wizardly magic thing, as brought up in Celestyn character description, should be more clearly stated early in the basic magic section. Although it is stated somewhat as a metaphor ("Magic is a world of its own,..."), this may or may not be interpreted as a world the gods can control.

Also some presidents should be clearly made, such as the amount of magic one can learn in some time (Maybe spans of 30 or 50 years?). Maybe even how certain elemental magic could be combined to create a shared effect (IE effect the weather.)

Just a few small things that I think should limit confusion in the future.

Would it not be theorecitaly possable to have a compound bow with the same draw weight as a equivilant standard bow and have it shoot farther?

We worked it out. Once Silfer got me pointed in the right direction I figured the rest out on my own. Mostly all the problems were my fault for not propperly checking my code as a whole.

The new WORKING version is uploaded on my site, and a copy has gone to you Arti.

Yah, I know, I am having that problem too. The real kicker though is Santharian Line to Metric works, but Santharian Line to Imperial that has the exact same input check code is giving that error. I mean I even Copy and Pasted the code from Santharian Line to Metric into Santharian Line to Imperial and still get the error. Need Silfers eyes I guess.

At any rate I am ready to call it 99% if not 99.9% idiot proof. I will be sending you the new version slightly after this post Arti. Many thanks to Silfer who helped me and taught me yet another aspect of Javascript.

Yah, I know. I am still looking into that particular issue, but have yet to come up with any solutions. Bear in mind I am learning Javascript and some finer points of HTML as I go along.

Well, if anyone ever needs it, it will be there, if its not needed it won't be used right?

And as for the whole UK vs US thing, well one is as good as the other really as long as one or the other is used. I just decided off the kuff to use US, as that is closer to what I am familior with, though I must admit I do not have much need for imperial measures.

Yah, I think I will go for US values.

Any more units to add to the metric list?

I still have one major hitch on Santharian Measure Converter wet measure modules. I need to know what units are commonly used for both metric and imperial measures. So far I have the following.

Imperial:

teaspoon
tablespoon
cup
pint
quart
gallon (UK) = 4.54609 liter, gallon (US, liquid) = 4.4048838 liter, gallon (US, wet) = 3.7854118 liter.... Which one should I use.

Metric:
litre
millilitre

Yes, I have been looking at any means of doing this, however I have yet to find any usefull information on it. Only referances that it is possible. :|

OK, I found the propper way to group the selection in the dropdown menu. Just need to deal with limiting the field to numerical values.

I see... IE does not disable them. :|  I will have to look for another solution.

I will slot look into the entering Non-numarical chars as well.

And people wonder why the metric system was invented. :rolleyes

Arti,

I will look at the issues I can however I am unsure what you mean by this one:

Quote:
- If you select one of these categories also the box below should adjust and revert to "Please select the units you wish to convert."

The Design issue I am pretty sure you will have to deal with as well, but I am pretty sure the rest other than the above I can do.
