1  Santharian World Development / People of the World of Caelereth / Re: Homloth the Dragonsage on: 23 March 2008, 02:24:47
Yes, Homloth and Runsek, both researchers, are entries I am trying to find time for; along with dragon lore, a cult, and a possible magic system. Given the complexity of all these, I'd like to hold off on other people working on them until I am sure they will all mesh properly and not create more inconsistencies.

That was...creepy. I am more convinced then ever that computers are inherently evil.

What Drasil says is correct, though I have to say I disagree with the policy of forcing developers to take an aforementioned entry from 'the list'. I suggested that dragons without a complete entry be removed from the main site in order to cut down on the population sizes immediately and free up developer creativity, but that ultimately did not come to pass.

It is? Maybe I deserve to be teased for not knowing that... shocked

Just a note: I think you misspelled "recipe" in the Myth section.

Very nice Rookie.  thumbup thumbup

Thanks so very much Art. I shall have to refresh myself on dwarven clans then to make this concise. Changing to a pencil-con.

Though there is more to be added, ideas and comments are needed. Feel free to toss your two sans in.

Edit: btw, no comments on what my version of "the end of next week" is, OK?  :P

Bard, if and when you get the chance, could you glance over Runsek for me? I'd appreciate it.

I don't hold to Darwinism, but if I did I would add one thing to Mira's assertion: Texas State Birds. *swats a mosquito*
10  Santharian World Development / Miscellaneous / Re: Remusian Warsword on: 15 December 2007, 00:45:06
I was hardly worried - it just seemed too much of a transitory piece to bother classifying it as a short sword, but given your outlined reasons I understand more fully now.  :)

Given the size of the weapon in length (97 nailsbreadths = 38 inches), this looks more like a one handed, full-size sword; certainly not a bastard/hand-and-a-half, but it seems a little too large to be a short sword as you classify it. An observation only.

Snow? *looks around at the Texas landscape* What the heck is snow?

Thanks very much for the input Grun!

Actually, something I have been struggling with is a magic "system". A theory is easy to concoct and argue for, but a system denotes a working practice of the aforementioned theory. While I am working on the idea of a cult that might use such a system, there are still bugs in the development (that, and I have not yet asked to have the ban on system's lifted, mainly because I am not convinced I can provide a substantial argument for it at this stage).

I um, second Rookie's reaction... buck

I have been reading the Magic Sections incessantly as I develop my 'Theories of Dragon Magic as it Relates to the Known Systems of Magical Qualities' (that's the working title).

And then it dawned on me.

Already the preliminary ideas of dragon magic have been received a little doubtfully here in development. It occurred to me that if this paper/essay/theory were published in Ximax, at least some of the local established authorities might take issue with what I am thinking about proposing - maybe even incensed, for I admit, some of what I am thinking of is radical, and I am sure it is full of holes.

So, why not make it into a 'in-world' debate, RPG-style, where masters of and experts within the established magical hierarchy and/or system have written rebuttal opinions and papers to be published?

What we could do is make it a topic, then those involved in the discussion would "publish" (post) their dissent, their support, their doubts, etc. Once all is done, the major points and ideas are gathered, streamlined, cutting out all the extraneous data for the actual on-site "publication" and it is turned into a readable entry for the Compendium.

Am I making sense? If I am, does it sound like a good idea? Or am I over the top here?
