1  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: Druidic Magic [AWAITING COMMENTS!] on: 25 October 2005, 11:51:00
Why would mergeing with a tree to become a War Dryad be shapeshifting?  I thought shapeshifting was the ability to change ones shape and appearance. I know shape shifting and becoming a War Dryad are almost the same the key difference is that when a druid merges with a tree to become a War Dryad he isn't changeing HIS shape are HIS ability; he is combineing his essence with the body or form of the tree so he can use it as a shell of sorts.

Atleast this is the best way I can explain how I see it..

@Silfer:  The reason I listed what I did is because that is what is on the current entry for the Druids.  As far as should they be able to turn into a flame or merge with a tree I am not sure but as far as the other stuff I think it would be okay.

I know this will come up later but I just want a general idea of what type of abilities they will have cuz I MIGHT help with the Druids entry (except for the magic) and this will give me an idea of how the different groups of Druids would interact.

@ Silfer:  I like this idea but how would it be used to control animals, merge oneself with a tree, manipulate currents and even shape water using their minds forming walls or crude weapons, or become flame for a period?

No protest here Pikel

I like it Pikel.  The only 2 questions I have are

How do the Druids pick these ArchDruids?

How will these ArchDruids be different from the other Druids in their "Sect" of the Order?

6  Santharian World Development / People of the World of Caelereth / Re: Ideas are always welcome on: 13 October 2005, 20:50:00
Yeah you're right.  I think that how and why they were formed or founded should be a mystery and that why and how they divided should be worked on.  I don't know how we should divide the Druids though.  Should we divide them by race, beliefs, or the region they live?

If we divide them by race then that will limit who can be what and take away from playablity a little.

If we divide them by the region in which they live how are we going to explain that many different types of druids being all over the world while still sticking to beliefs that date back to their hidden past?

If we divide them by their beliefs all we would have to do is figure out why they split, who went where, and what different beliefs they had.

Any idea's here?

What about the Order of Druids as a whole?  How did it start, I mean, some thing(s) or person(s) had to have started the Druids otherwise how did all of the different classes of druids come to be?

Maybe the Druids started as a whole then because of something major the some of the Druids started to "believe" that the Druids should take a different "path" in life.

I haven't really thought about it that much but I was thinking along the same line cuz I am going to create an Eyelian Druid.  Actually, that is what made me think about revamping the Druidic Order in the first place.  I just don't know about creating roots from them since the Eyelian roots themselves is not clear.  As far as having elves as a root wouldn't that be a little hard since Druids can be any race pretty much?

Maybe we can have roots for each "sect" of the Druid Order like saying the Grey Druids have Eyelian roots since they deal with animals, the Green Druids have a certain Elven root since they deal with trees, the Brown Druids have a Dwarven root because they deal with rock, but I am not sure about the Blue or Red Druids though.

What do ya'll think about this idea?

Also, when we do this revamp I think we should include how this Order got started, who or what it was started by, and who or what was the first druids.

This all sounds good to me but before I post any idea's or comments I will be doing a little more research on how to do this since I haven't done anything like it before.  Also, I don't know how much time I will have to post becuz I have had computer problems lately.  I will try to give input as much as I can though.

11  Santharian World Development / People of the World of Caelereth / Re: Also on: 05 October 2005, 15:15:00
I see, and would like to see the druids "finished" more than most but I just don't have the talent to create an order of people out of thin air.

I do have a few ideas though. I might be able to pull it off but the only way I would be able to is if others from the development board just gave me their ideas then I can edit them then organize them into a very rough draft about The Order of the Druids.

There are a few things that I am not so sure about though.  I don't know if we should keep the Green (Tree) Druids; what do ya'll think?  Also, if we are going to do this then I would like to keep the Druidic Magic System seperate from this untill everything is worked out.

Also, Arti I think you have misunderstood me.  I will try to do a druid entry but that wasn't me plan.  I have no exp in doing entries at all.  I was just stating that I thought they needed to be redone becuz they lacked enough info to really make a druid.

If I have help then I will try but as I said I have no exp in this area.  I am sure you can find someone better able to make this entry than me.

13  Santharian World Development / People of the World of Caelereth / Order of Druids ReVamp?? on: 02 October 2005, 10:32:00
I thought since the Druid's Magic was getting better explained that the Druid Order themselves should get a ReVamp.  I would do it myself but have little knowledge of Santharia or Caelereth.  I will, of course, offer my thoughts on the matter when possible.  I think that the Druid's current entry doesn't have enough Structure on the Druids as a whole nor the different orders of the Druids.

You almost need to make one big entry for the Order of the Druids then make mini entries for the different types of druids there are.  I know that ya'll are most likely short handed here but I think the Druid entries should be better thought out and explained because they seem to have be rushed.
