Well, Koldar...
If you think about it, that makes just as much sense as the humans being associated with water, elves with air, dwarves with earth, and orcs with fire. Its just something that happened. We should definately explain it, but this way of answering your question makes the most sense to me.

17  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Reagents? Maybe... on: 27 July 2002, 15:03:00
I was thinking that Koldar meant not just the Reagents for the spelss, but perhaps a small beaker for mixing potions, a little stick for mixing their coffee and dangerous poisons, and perhaps some matches and a pipe. Otherwise, he knows that we use reagents, right? And hed have thrown it in there at least once, right? Am I wasting breath, and was Xarl right all along? It would figure...

Well, Koldar, so far every spelling of INGREDIENTS is wrong! Mwa ha ha ha! But there must be a word that fits better here than ingredients... there must... thinks...

I can just imagine someone using "Fist of Thunder" as a fan!

Under The Shield Dome, you should probably say that it is "the result of the efforts of the founders of Ximax to shield the surrounding area from the effects of the Orb." Not the other way around. Also, since you say that the Tear of Ava is where the energy of the gods can be focused, wouldn't it make sense that clerics could be able to access it safely? If not, there needs to be a reason. Maybe becasue magi distrust clerics, and won't let them near it. There could be a distrust between them going back a long time, with the clerics becoming ever more angry at the magi's refusal to allow them admittance. if that's the way you want to go. (I mention this becasue you said that only the Archmagi are ALLOWED to enter. By the design of the gods??? Wouldn't they would want clerics there too???)

Also, it would be nice to have a legend about what things were like before the surrounding area was shielded, what the effects of the Sphere of Ximax would be if its raw power was unleashed on nature. Maybe deformed animals, or even animals capable of casting spells?

Probably should add that it is very difficult to hit things that don't conduct electricity. And I don't see why it couldn't be summoned indoors, as long as you can see outside. But I'm not sure if that last thing I just said makes any sense whatsoever, so you should probably just ignore it.

I still think that the duration is way too long. In combat, just 5 seconds will kill someone easily.

I was going to mention about the reagents too, guessing that you meant about the venom. If that is the case, I would suggest mentioning that the teeth must still have venom, or just suggest the venom. Does the venom evaporate or something after the snake has been dead for a couple days??? Also, 2 hours is a long time. I'd suggest between half a minute and five, otherwise its way too powerful. We might even need to make the upper limit only a minute. You mentioned that its breaking the connection between mind and body, but I see it as just suppressing the higher functions. That way, even if it isn't successfully cast, the spell would still have some effect, such as giving the person a muddled state. Finally, we might want every mage to need to be touching the living thing, or again it's too powerful.

You said that the mage must imagine the threads running between mind and body. I must disagree with this slightly. It doesn't make sense that theres only one way to do this.

26  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Rogue weavers??? on: 29 June 2002, 16:11:00
Hey Tarquet? I was wondering if it would be possible for Quel'tra'loh to have a group of weavers there, or even if there could be a group of weavers that are going against the main body of weavers' wishes. It would be very nice to have them in Corloth, and it would make things quite interesting to have the Corlothans know about them. If there were, and it would bring the wrath of Quel'tra'loh upon the weavers if they were to kill the rogues, would the weavers go to war upon Corloth becasue of that? I would like to have an enemy of Quel'tra'loh that could stand up to its magical might, and the weavers seem to me to be a good possibility. Of course, if this does go through, they would go under the guise of another power, but both sides would know that they're weavers.

Hw much power do the weavers have outside their own realm, or places that they've fortified? Would they possibly be able to defeat the army (I should probably explain what this army is. I'll start making it up in the thread that it belongs in.) of Quel'tra'loh not on their own ground? Would there maybe just end up being an uneasy peace after the weavers are thrown back? What would happen in this situation???

Perhaps you shouldn't say that the maximum number is 15, but that the largest known number of undead successfully reincarnated at one time is 15.

Hmmm. I have no idea about your questions, but could she heat up metal or just people? You said that she heated up her hands. Does that mean that she was impervious to heat? It would be interesting if she heated a sword to superhot temperatures. I wonder what she could do with that sort of a thing. There would be lots of used for that kind of power, and its not too powerful, which is nice.

Instead of saying that melee attacks will easily kill the mage, just say that keeping the spell up weakens the mage, and the mage is more susceptible to melee attacks.

Just wondering, but what would happen if a stone was thrown at the illusion? Would it disappear for that as well?
