All right here is the deal. After doing more research I see that the Hellhound is supposed to be about 2 peds tall. That is as tall as Gouran herself. So that combination won't work for this picture. The options are:
1) Separate the Hellhound and its rider into a separate picture and make it the proper size and color. 2) Keep the Warg in this picture as is and call it a Rast Warg instead.
Thanks for the comments so far. I can take care of all these comments rather easily. I will work with Garrett to get the Hell Hound in proper order. I will be able to provide the Warg, the warg and its rider, and the "female" Orc all in there own pics alone. They are on separate layers. Keep the suggestions coming.
Tharoc I didn't even realize I was drawing a female Orc. Did I at least make her good looking? I can't tell. *Seeker mumbles* Stunted green barbarians.
Welcome Gentle one. *Seeker appears to have a devilish smirk on his face* Try not to be too gentle, not everyone in Santharia is looking after your best interests. Orcs are not known for their loyalty you know. Dark Mages on the other hand.......
We can use someone with your talents. You will find that I personally need nothing from you except well described characters. You see I create artwork for the entries I find most interesting to me at the time. You may find I tend to lean towards the dark and twisted. However I have been known to depict something beautiful now and then.
Another point on the Warg. Garret points out that it may be too small and not red enough to be a Hellhound (Warg Beast) Let me know what you think. I can certainly make it redder and bigger very easily or we could classify it as a different type of Warg altogether. Matters not to me.
Here she is finally, Gouran (Avath'cao). A few notes about this picture. I realize most Injeren elves are blonde, However I depicted Gouran with black hair due to her transformation into Gouran. " When she came out from the depth of Tak’dinal there was a dark beauty about her. All of the light and tenderness had been sucked out, only to be replaced by the cold perfection of a statue."
I also realize there may not have been Warg-Wolf Beasts at this time in history. Again I took some artistic licence. Considering Gouran used an army that partially was spawned by the dark evil of Tak'dinal I imagine Wolf Beasts could be included. Eckra the Cruel had Warg Beasts after all.
Finally I depicted two Orcs loosely based off of the Rhom-Oc Orcs and the Osther-Oc Orcs. Again the fact that this setting is quite a long time ago, I don't expect the Orcs would have appeared exactly as they do today.
Let me know what you think. I will be out of town this weekend so I will get to any changes as soon as I can next week.
P.S. I am looking forward to drawing the Forsaken Blade for my next project. A little less complex of an undertaking.
I am very interested in this topic as it has a major effect on the look and feel of pictures I may draw. The moon effects so much. I don’t intend to dictate anything but I would like to offer up some thought provoking questions:
1. Are we resolved that there should only be one moon? Even in our own universe not many planets have only a single moon. 2. How big is the moon from the Santharian perspective (for example in comparison to the earth moon)? Does the moon stay the same size from the Santharian perspective all year around. Perhaps it is on an elliptical orbit. 3. What color is the moon? I see half of it is Silver. Does it stay the same color all year around? Can the moon be an unusual color like red or blue? 4. How bright (Luminous) is the moon/moons? This will effect night vision and light perspective in depictions of night. 5. Is the moon/moons visible in the daytime sky?
We should remember this is a fantasy world. Not everything has to make sense under Earth Astronomy laws. Or at least the people of Santharia do not need to understand them using Earth Astronomy laws.
Here we go, an update to the Swamp Stalker. These were easy changes so please let me know if for some reason you had something else in mind I can easily tweak the picture. I am posting two pictures one with just the background.
Thanks for the positive comments so far. Art I look forward to any suggestions you may have.
I definitely like suggestion for areas that need illustrating. Alysse is the one who introduced me to the SwampStalker after all. (And I am especially interested in getting her comments) So please don't feel embarrased by suggesting areas that need illustrating.
However I was browsing yesterday and I noticed Gouran (Avath cao'). She is really interesting and I would like an opportunity to illustrate her if there are no objections.
By the way, Bard Judith I love your picture of the White Lady. I like the feeling of emotion in her face. In fact I have noticed that you and Faugur have provided many of the illustrations and they really help bring Santharia to life.
All right , this has been a tough one. Here is my depiction of the Swamp Stalker in the SilverMarshes. You will notice that the Stalker is busy feeding on a Red Lysh Pike. You may also notice some Krakenweed in the water and Squilla Fungus on the tree behind the Stalker.
The Stalker is well described however I found myself struggling with putting some of the details to "canvas" . Let me know what you think I could use some help.
Artimidor, here is the final version. Also want to point out that my name is spelled differently than what you posted with the Bone Tree. Bradly Van Camp Capital "V" and Capital "C" American spelling I think.
