1831  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: That-Which-Devours, a cute little gift for Azhira on: 17 March 2009, 04:20:59
From an artist perspective I like to have as much description as necessary to visualize the creature.  I think others have already given some good ideas.  As I have searched for interesting beasts to draw I notice that we have many beasts without form in Santharia.  Most artists will shy away from drawing something if nobody knows what it looks like.

Thats a good suggestion Irid.  That will only take a couple minutes to incorporate .  I will wait a few days and see if any other suggestions come in and then I will do one last update.
1833  Santharian World Development / Santharian Artists Workshop and Resources / Re: The Black Unicorn pic- update on: 13 March 2009, 10:48:22
Changing up the legs and lengthening them really made a big difference.  Thanks.  I also made other alterations based on the other comments as well.  I think it looks much better.  Any last touches?  Especially Smith in Exile I would like to get your view point as the creator of the beast.  You made a comment about the claws, Do you think it is still needed after the changes to the legs?  Let me know.

As for my future endeavors.  I have already been intrigued by the Swamp Stalker thanks to Alysse.  That will be my next task.  However I think it may turn out to be a tough one.

P.S.  I appreciate all the positive comments.  I am having fun drawing for people who appreciate this genre of art.
1834  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: Tattoos and Magic on: 12 March 2009, 12:24:29
This is finally what I have been looking for.  You may notice the runes etched into my skin.  Before I came to Santharia I had them etched into my skin.  In my newbie forum I explained they held great power for me in my old world.  Well for some reason they are no good here in Santharia.  I am powerless and in fact they have begun to itch and burn.  I would appreciate if you could research ways to remove magical runes (without killing the host).  One lesser minded individual suggested I wash them off.  Very funny.  I will pay dearly to have these runes removed.  I will pay even more dearly to have new, more powerful runes applied.  Perhaps you need something illustrated. ;)

Keep in mind, each rune provides the host a unique power.  Combinations of certain runes unlocks deeper magic.  However the host must be very careful.... for if they are not aware of the affects of one rune on another they can become possessed, diseased, weakend or just simply die.  I have even heard of runes being used on enemies or slaves to place them bondage or servitute.  Never let someone tattoo you unless you know how it will effect you.

Well here is the Black Unicorn from the Venlaken Enclave.  The Black Unicorn is a wonderful animal and it was my pleasure to draw her.   I am impressed with the detail the writers have put into the creature descriptions.  This helps the visual artist greatly.   However as always I may have missed some details that are important to you.  Please let me know what needs tweaking shocked.  And let me know what you like ;).

"Real"  name -  Bradly Van Camp.  Thanks for all the help over the past few days getting started.

The Swamp Stalker is intriguing.  I will definitely keep that one in mind.  I'll get to it in a couple of weeks I am sure.
1838  Santharian World Development / Santharian Artists Workshop and Resources / Re: The Bone Tree Apparition- 3rd update on: 08 March 2009, 05:44:37
Those were good suggestions.  I like this version much better.  Let me know if anyone sees something else that needs improvement, these changes don't take long.

By the way, I am thinking about trying the Black Unicorn next.
1839  Santharian World Development / Santharian Artists Workshop and Resources / Re: The Bone Tree Apparition --part 2 on: 07 March 2009, 13:12:01
OK here is another version with the changes that were suggested.  Let me know if you think the pic is improved or not.  I can easily reverse anything that was done.

You may notice that I decided not to leave the axe in the tree as I have a hard time imagining the bone tree tolerating an axe in its trunk.  More likely it would pull out the axe and throw it to the ground... which it did.

I also did not mess around too much with the bark.  By the way I am using GIMP as my drawing program.  Its free and it works well.

Alright I posted the Bone Tree in the Artist Forum.  I assume that is the right place.  Hope you enjoy.

OK here it goes.  My first attempt to contribute.  My understanding is now I wait to get some feedback and pointers for improvement.  Please give me your honest feedback.   This was really fun to create, I hope you enjoy it.

I am not sure if this is the proper way to go about things.  I would like to develop an illustration of the Bone Tree Apparition.  Is this permitted and where should I post an example once I have a first rendering?

Thank you all for the warm welcome and thank you Altario for the Sno cone (delicious).  A little more about myself.  They call me the Seeker as I have always been in search of knowledge, wisdom and of course ...powers.  Even as a young boy I studied out of the great books in hopes of wielding the ancient secrets.  Before coming to this land I marked my body with runes in an effort to become one with life, energy, abilities...power.   Some of my efforts were futile , but some were fruitful.  However I see as I enter this world my powers have left me and I am left as a babe in the wilderness.  As I learn your ways and get to know your people (and who can be trusted)  I will work my way back to a respectable level.  I understand you have a rune master in this land.  I will desire to speak with him. Maybe he can help me to remove these useless markings from my old world and provide new runes--- runes that harbour power in Caelereth.

In the meantime I am looking for meaningful work in this new world.  I suppose the protocol is to find an entry that I would like to illustrate and make a proposal?   What are the size limitations on pictures?
I will search through the lands of my new friends to find something inspiring to draw. If you see something useful in my posted works that may be useful to you,  please let me know.

Wow, Santharia is great.  I have been spending my time the past couple days reading through the newbie stuff and trying to get acquainted.  I am hoping I have found a home to express creativity and make some new friends in the process.  Ever since I can remember I have loved fantasy.  I especially love to draw and am hoping to be able to contribute artwork to this site.  To see some examples see the artwork folder in the photo section of my myspace page.  www.myspace.com/bradlyvancamp
Please let me know if you think I will be a fit.  I would love to create new pics for the various beasts, people, weapons, etc that still do not have a visual representation in Santharia.
Please be patient (yet brutally honest) as I get accustomed to this wonderful new world.
