Here is an update to take care of a couple of comments. This is how I would like to keep it I think. Lets use it in the Rivermaid entry as suggested by Talia.
OK here are some suggestions for Morjer's pictures:
Midnight Flower- The Paelmerin flower When all is said and done- used in the story Once in a red moon chapter II -Homeless- you may want to have the coke can taken out of the picture though. Maybe just crop the pic. The Cave- Darkling Brownie. I see this as a very young brownie. Ocean Storm- Storm of three nights or used anywhere you need a lightning bolt.
We recommend new comers start with something rather simple. The usual example of simple things are weapons or plants or small creatures. This will allow you to get the feel for writing an entry and receiving critique.
One way to find things to start with is to explore the various Overviews. For example here is the Daggers and Knives Overview. You will see many weapons in this overview that do not have actual entries....yet. Feel free to pick one and develop the entry. There are many overview like this one, feel free to explore.
Well that has never happened to me before. I never mis-categorize the creatures I find in the wild. But you are the experts writing about these creatures and I am just wandering around Santharia taking pictures of them. If you say this is is a Rivermaid then indeed it is a Rivermaid.
I read the Rivermaid entry and agree with you Talia that she better fits there. I will rename the thread and my next version will have changes to better fit that entry.
Well done. I have started with the appearance. I tried to imagine in my minds eye what this character looks like based on your description. You did a good job and I really liked the subtle details like the wrinkles, and brow, and turn of the lips. A couple of questions you may want to address:
1) Any facial hair? For the ice tribes the type (if any) of facial hair is important. 2) How long do you imagine his hair to be? 3) Not necessary, but if this guy was in a lot of battles does he have any visible wounds? 4)What are the red and white paints? Warpaint? Perhaps this is a reference to another entry somewhere that I didn't catch.
I like the perspective they give of the sun and earth to where Titan is. I find it interesting not "fantastic" I wouldn't want to live there. Looks too much like California.
Welcome to the better half of Santharia. The ice up north is a great place to create. I have found myself up there often putting brush to canvas for the compendium.
Usually a person's first entry is not an an entry of themself. Most developers (except for the longtimers) do not have entries of themselves in the compendium. However if that is what Ta'lia wanted you to do, she must have had her reasons, which I respect (she is one of those longtimers I was referring to) .
Otherwise we usually suggest first timers to start with something simple like a plant or small non-intrusive creature. This will allow you to get used to the critique and the process of creating an entry. More often than not people get frustrated on their first entry and then give up. We don't want that to happen to you.
Yeah I was having a hard time understanding the measurements for the butterfly for some reason. I don't have a problem with simply making it smaller. I knoiw it is supposed to be "small".
I find it is always nice to to take a break from the rigors of journeying around santharia and simply enjoy the beauty that is around me. Sometimes I am so busy casting fire spells at demons or exploring dark dungeons that I forgot to stop and smell the roses as they say.
