THe Skeleton Lord could be used as an additional picture of the Ruins of Karthmor entry, for the Myth/Lore part. Here we have a character called Ta Ivashi, who was a bit like Smith's Undead Lord in Nybelmar:

He was described as a rigorous Lord already before he fell victim to an uncurable deadly illness, which caused him to try strange mixtures and consult wizardly help to save his life. Finally with the help of alchemists, magi and an artifact they produced together known as the Soulcatcher he turned to a half man and half demon creature.

With him Ta Ivashi had demons hailing from the depths of the abyss below Karthmor, zombiis and corrupted magi, emerging from the Pit, and he also bred monsters in the swamps around his citadel. Filled with hatred and anger on everything alive these creatures spread their master's infamy in all directions. Commanding his dark minions, Ta Ivashi did not only feast on people, he drained energy from the world around him, making the lands withered and dead while he himself grew in power and strength, transforming more and more into a demon. Karthmor became a place of evil, a black hole in the once thriving landscape, sucking all life into its gorge of darkness.

Fits very well methinks, and we'd need an own entry for Ta Ivashi also sooner or later, so the picture then could be used there as well.

Yes, let that go with Ta Ivashi. That part of Nybelmar history is still very blurry, so I cannot even think of an entry yet.

I'll keep the bone dragon as reference though, but if anyone else wants it, or you find an entry where it fits, go ahead.

Well, I simply have no space to put the "Resource Bonus" picture into the currency entry. It's full with illustrations already, would have to remove a current one to get it in. One could make a fable out of it, though. Rough ideas are forming in my head concerning that one, could last several months though to write something down.

Little helper definitely is not a Domovidge, guess it needs to go into a fairy-tale as well.

Skeleton Lord will be used for Ta Avashi then, feel free to use the one or the other then for your projects, Coren & Smith, in case you have ideas.

If the Voldar entry was extended, then you could prolly use the statue for that. It's described as a beautiful city and Capher mentions on the RPG board that there are several statues in the castle's gardens.

The "Skid Row" entry--use it for the main street of Roulk? Might have to dirty up the buildings a little, they're too pristinely white right now. You know, stained with dirt, carelessly emptied "nightsoil" buckets, etc.

The last picture looks good for one of our whip weapons. Possibly the Scourge as the Bane whip is solely used by women.

IMHO, I think that the guy's face could be a problem, but could we just cut/crop the picture so we only get the whips?

The focal point of the picture in the article would be the whips, not the creepy face of the guy. We can simply classify him as a human in the caption and I am sure that it will satisfy most readers.

There is no reason why you can't have a creative 'explanation' or 'gloss' as a picture caption - National Geographic does it all the time when otherwise spectacular pictures don't 'read' clearly or have particularly peculiar cultural referents.

For example: "Here we see a mythical Fang Demon wielding an all-too-real Scourge whip, the honed leather edge of which is said to be able to strip the hair off a boar's back without drawing blood - when cracked by a master..."

Or: "In this hand-coloured illustration from a horrifying fable currently popular on the streets of Marcogg, "Hegrith Enslaved", we are shown an excellent depiction of the Scourge Whip..." etc. etc. etc.

There isn't even any need to have some hapless developer add the "Fang Demon" to their To-Do list, either - it can simply stay as a throw-away line which helps us utilize the picture.

Important Note: We should use existing illustrations where possible - but let us not forget that these were created for another universe, and we use them by courtesy. If we allow the picture to dictate what we create too literally, we lose not only our creative freedom, but run the risk of transgressing on others' intellectual property. Quellion may well have been given guidelines for specific creatures - or he may have come up with depictions from his own fantastic imagination - but we do need to exercise care in how we use 'friendly permission' pictures.

Those whips aren't scourges. A scourge has 9-12 thongs, but those only have one. Perhaps someone could develop a new whip that would suit the ones shown in the picture?

Well, yes, it doesn't appear to be a scourge, so it won't be possible to integrate it there specifically. But what Judy mentioned is important - we can use such pictures anyway, not in order to illustrate a race here or something, but to give a reference to such a whip, while the beast itself could be part of a myth, horror story, a fairy-tale, or whatever. So the picture could also be of use if it didn't have a whip in it. What we can't make "real" in this fantasy world, could still be part of the fantasies in it. Same with the little fellow, who probably isn't a Domovidge, but there can still exist folktales about little guys hiding stuff and such. There are no limits for creativity in order to make proper use of such images. Guess it is important to point that out. Look at some of my stories stories - most of them were made only to integrate existing pictures, which probably wouldn't fit that well anywhere else.
