This is the first story that I've worked on for the collection of Brohm Thrumhell. It's written in groupings. *shrugs* I dunno if ya'll like it but, meh. Here goes nothing.

Brohm slowly made his way to his usual storytelling stump. His hand lay on a grizzled wolf who was helpling him not stumble over anything. Finally, they came to the stump. Brohm felt around till he knew exactly where the stump was. Slowly, he eased himself down upon it. The wolf laid down by his feet.

Soon, children of the village began to crowd around him. Brohm gave a chuckle as he heard them eagerly gather round.

"Well, now, what story do you want to hear today?" Brohm asked with a smile.

"Do ya 'ave any stories wif dragons in it?" One young boy asked.

"No," protested a girl. "I wanna hear one with an Eyelian in it."

The children began to argue with each other. Some saying that dragons would be so much better then listening to a story about an ordinary Eyelian. Yet, others said that they would like to hear about an ancestor or some great Eyelian. Brohm sat thinking as he stared through unseeing white eyes.

After a moment, he raised his voice slightly. "Children, children. I think I know how to solve this problem." Every eye turned to him and every mouth was silenced.

" 'ow's that?" the first boy asked.

"Have you ever heard the story of the dragon and the proud Eyelian?" Brohm asked as he leaned forward.

"No, what'th it about?" the first girl asked.

"Listen closely, and you shall see," Brohm said with a smile.

"Long ago, when the Eyelian nation was still strong, there was a small village. Now, the name of this village isn't remembered for, as I said, they were quite small.

"In that village there was a Beast Master named Bor'en. Now, it was rumoured that Kor'en was the best Beast Master in the entire kingdom. He had leanred evvery known animal language. But, there was a flaw with Kor'en"

"Wath he old?" the first girl asked.

"No," Brohm said with a smile.

"Was he crippled?" Another young girl asked, wrinkling up her nose in thought.

Brohm shook his head.

"I know!" A young boy exclaimed. "He was proud." The young boy stuck out his chest and smiled at his friends that were around me.

"You got that from the title, I'm sure," Brohm said with a smile. "Yes, he was very proud, but do you know what that means?"

The boy looked confused as did the rest of the children. "Being proud means that....well, it's hard to exlplain really," Brohm said, scratching his head. "Perhaps by finishing the tale, you'll understand."

"Bor'en was so proud of being the best Beast Master, that he often bragged about it to everyone who would listen. The place that he loved to brag the most was the tavern at the end of the day when all the  men would go there to get a drink and talk about the day.

One night, as he was just reaching the climax of his story, a stranger in strange clothes came into the tavern.

A nice start, Kareesh. :) And still the story itself has not yet begun, so I'm waiting for more, which I hope will come soon... We will have to adjust the Eyelian name a bit though (see Name Definition thread here), as we try to maintain a certain system from now on. A few misspellings, wording problems here and there can be found in the posted text, Kareesh, which you'll surely discover upon re-reading. But otherwise I'm just looking forward for part 2! :D
