The rumors are that an famous Aeruillin explorer and trader Gerluic Sandrider, on one of his biggest expeditions thruought Santharia sung this song on his way back to Aeruillin. it is said that Gerluic and his party were so tired up of the long journey that Gerluic proposed that they compose a song. As they traveled south so did new verses came up but when Gerluic came home to Shan'Zarathan the song was so long that he would remember the long and tiresome trip he had to undertake, so he decided to shorten the song and he chose six verses and named them The Marching Song. Now the song is sung by Zarathian men to honor Gerluic and his heroic expedition, and now when people are on long travels,  they think of Gerluic and how he shorten his long trip in a song and the people's paths become shorter as they sing this song.

We ride, we ride
we ride, we ride again.
o'er mountains of trolls...
there go many roads...
we ride passing the Lower Fores.

We cross, we cross
we cross, we cross again
to the shining south
the path we'll follow
we're crossing through the King's Hollow.

We stride, we stride
we stride, we stride again
pass Mithral's deep caves
through Marcogg city
to hear the bashing sound of waves.

We go, we go,
we go, we go again,
many stops and rests,
pass Marayan gulf,
we reach the Sharadon Forests.

We walk, we walk
we walk, we walk again.
To far, distant lands
through wide Narfost plain
we walk towards the south again.

We sail, we sail
we sail, we sail again.
From black Thalambath
over Burning Sea
into the land of sand again.

Sorry Arceaon, but the Thrumgolz never walked in this direction, they would not find their way through the desert, if they would have been allowed through the Sharadon in the first place - not to speak, that only VERY urgent matters would cause them leaving their hearths and go above grounds.

apart from that, it is a nice poem!

Also ,i doubt the Thrumgolz would sing in anything but Thergerim'Taal

(has anyone ever mentioned Taal means Language in Dutch? confused the hell out of me in my early days...)

I think there's a good chance that Bard Judith did that intentionally.

Points to Mira
 for noticing
and to Mina
 for being absolutely right.

(smoochies) :kiss :kiss

Double points for anyone who finds the Korean word I snuck into the ThergerimTaal dictionary!  Nah, make that triple-diple points with a free artwork, coz there's no chance even Drasil would be that thorough....

Huh, I'm actually right?  Cool.  :D

Korean, eh?  Well, looking at the dictionary, a lot of the words don't seem to fit Korean phonology (at least what little I know of it).  As for those that are okay, aenul "weep" and kaenul "cry" feel rather Korean to me, depending on how they are pronounced.  Koshing "uncertain" sounds like it could be a Chinese borrowing, but the meaning seems to be nothing like the Chinese word.  Sihang "certain" sounds Koreanish too.  Of course, it's entirely possible that none of these is the word we are looking for.

I've also noticed that the word baroom means "loud".  Coincidence?  :D

Perceptive, Mina!  None are the word I had in mind, which is a direct borrow; sound, meaning and all. (though I will hint that the runic spelling looks odd because dwarven uses one rune for the 'ch' sound)  And no, coincidences of that sort you can safely assume are products of my over-oenomatopic imagination.

Talia, you caught me! But if Jung Min does find the word SHE gets to pick the illustration.... :P

Heh, well, not knowing Korean, I could only go by the sound.  I suppose someone should get it sooner or later.  :)

(gulps)

Mira wins the pot!
(curtseys formally and comes back up smiling widely at him)

Guess you get to pick a entry/topic/thing you'd like illustrated, Mira!  A good excuse for me to dust my tablet back off and MAKE some time to draw - I need the destressor anyhow.  Nothing fancy, mind you - I don't do those amazing backgrounds and character-ful faces and lighting effects like our real artists -  but you can have a beast or artifact or something...

I know! Both for being a fun animal, and you complimenting me on its creation, i would ask you to illustrate; the Oloy!

Ah, too bad that internet is so restricted in China, Ferra. Can't be much fun surfing the web that way if Big Brother's watching you... Hope you enjoy your stay nevertheless!

Hi, dear Arti and other developers!

This year I am in China and cannot use any Google services including YouTube. For this reason I stopped uploading new Nepris videos. I can also not read any comments there.

It just crossed my mind that this information might be useful to you.

Cheers
