Well, I guess Miraran's focus lay on the current state of the wood and the basic history, though indeed he elegantly skipped the Year of Darkness in the history section. Maybe because it isn't entirely sure how the Year of Darkness affected Nybelmar in general and the concepts are still missing.

It would be appreciated to have a passage on that, I'm all for it, but I also trust the Nybelmarian developers if they wait with more details for later. But a rough sketch would be nice to have, yup.

I have no idea what actually happened during the Year in Nybelmar. I've heard rumors about the Cataclypse, when one of the Krean High-Priests losts its mind and caused a whole lot of ickyness, but that is about all i know..

Well, it is not so undecided as you say. I don't know where we talked about it, but Smith and I came about it, (can't remember if coren joined, Koldar was already gone) that it is not entirely dark as in the central region, so that the Venlaken area f.e. has a dark red night all year long, something like this.
But, as I said in my post above - the sun is gone - and so far I thought, that we will see this as a FACT (from where else should this young myth have derived? ) , so it is bitter cold and freezing everywhere. The void is nothing which warms up!
If you think at a solar obscurance - it is not pretty dark till the sun is obscured totally - but the temperature can fall in these five minutes about ten degrees. If it is gone for a year, the whole disk is under a cover of ice as described for Sarvonia already. I see no reason, why this should not have an impact on the Drifting Woods.

Mira, why don't you go and read how I described the effects of the year of Darkness in the Rahaz-Dath? Your woods were probably the only ones which didn't freeze totally like the rest - with the moss mounds, maybe life could even have spread from there to the whole of Nybelmar again.

This is a very nicely written entry!   thumbup  While looking through it though, I don't think I saw any mention of how the relatively detailed history regarding the history was obtained.  The expedition commissioned by the Compendium would certainly have came back with much valuable information, but the description you gave seem to suggest the Vikhari would not have kept such precise records until at least the time the Krean refugees joined them.  Perhaps those details and dates were speculations by scholars of the Ter'ei'Vikh and neighbouring states?

Which is why all the dates are labeled 'around'. it's most likely been calculated by comparision with more detailed records from elsewhere. But do we want to bother the Compendium's readers with how we got to these kind of results? (also, the surrounding area is not yet developed.. i have no records to refer to! *panic*)

Yeah! Finally a chance to show my secretly acquired knowledge!!! *Scouts for Coren before explaining*

The High Priestess of Ankriss is a god like figure, with more then demi-god powers. She is the merging of many souls (see the Unwritten Truths of SW Nybelmar in the Nybelmar thread for more details). Anyway, the orcal wars and various attempts to try and prove her self built up stress and sooner or later she couldnt control her powers. Her great powers erupted in a large ball of detructive and evil energy, forcing most of the Krean to immigrate (the only ones remaining are the 'Lost Ones'). This added various horrific creatures to the forest, sent the HP into a coma and ultimately the year of Darkness.

YAY!

Well Coren was hardly likely to allow his Krean to leave for no reason!

'Murderizing'? Is that something like criminalization?

I will get to commenting on this- eventually...

Ah, too bad that internet is so restricted in China, Ferra. Can't be much fun surfing the web that way if Big Brother's watching you... Hope you enjoy your stay nevertheless!

Hi, dear Arti and other developers!

This year I am in China and cannot use any Google services including YouTube. For this reason I stopped uploading new Nepris videos. I can also not read any comments there.

It just crossed my mind that this information might be useful to you.

Cheers
