Bakk, a fluid for torches [inspired by Grunok]
«

OVERVIEW:
Bakk, a popular gnomish invention, is a fluid used on torches, actually it is used to soak a rag with it and some oil and then the rag would be put on the rod-shaped piece of wood that we call a torch. The very special property of this, on the first look ordinary transparent-gray liquid, is that it deletes smoke from the torch by a special procedure described later in this very text.

Arceon, if you'd head over to the herbarium I think i've got a workable entry that I could tie into this. I'd need to see the draft to see how this would work out between the two. At the momment the plant is only used by mullogs. Some part of the plant could be a base component for your torch fluid.

You understand, of course, that your Foxglass entry will have to be changed then and at the end approved. If you would like to change your entry and wait for it to get approved then we can work something out together.
About the draft:
An idea would be that the liquid is on someway squashed from the transparent parts of the plant. What do you think Niccoli?

the leaves of the plant or the flowers would probably do. swamp dwelling plants would probably have a fair bit of moisture overall. Could be the substance that makes the leaves poisonous.

Would this plant be like citronella candles and torches?

Citronella candles and suchlike as I understand only have the purpose of driving off biting insects and the like. It's still parafin wax and other hydrocarbons.

Hmm, if it comes from a plant it might be worth describing a particular smell that comes from it - in the same way as citronella, but probably (hopefully!) not as strong!
The way to make it should probably be fairly complicated, I imagine, as Gnomes are our Santharian chemists and scientists. It could well involve several stages of decanting, different colour changes, boiling and other strange, pseudo-scientific seeming processes! I found a neat site just now, with
this
list of alchemical processes which might help to fire your imagination...
Just my two sans worth - hope it helps
Enjoy your writing, Arceon!

That link should be posted to the Resources Thread, pretty please, Grunok! It's amazing and will probably start Artimidor and me off on another alchemical ramble if we aren't disciplined...
(Everyone, remember there is a Team Project underway in the Team Forum and go see what you can contribute!)
