Made some more edits to this plant orange.

Main reason I did was I saw Kelancey's thread on on pain killers and I wanted his input on the narcotic my plant produces kitocran.

Hey, Xera!  This is a curious, though interesting, addition to the Herbarium.  I'll focus my comments just on kitocran, as you've instructed me.

Caelereth actually has something akin to kitocran, that is, the miyu beans from the miyuestiac bush.  Nonetheless, not only do I like the idea of kitocran, I'd say we even need something like kitocran.  Miyu powder is first and foremost an anesthetic, not a narcotic; the differences are subtle, but important.  So, for that reason, this meets one (perhaps arbitrary) requirement of a new addition--Is it necessary?  I'd argue, yes, it is.

I might offer some suggestions as to how it works, however.  First, I've tried to avoid using the term "narcotic" in my proposals, because "narcotic" doesn't sound Santharian to me.  Not that I'm against all Greek-derived words (Sorry, Curgan!), but words derived from Greek mythology are cocooned in a rich terran culture which is impossible to dissect away.  So, how about "soporific" or "mind-numbing toxin" or "euphoria-producing substance" instead?

I really like that kitocran is both the bait and the trap, luring animals to the sweet reward then capturing them in a deep sleep.  Terrific idea, and even kind of Darwinian in design.

Sleeping for a week, uninterrupted, would cause death by respiratory collapse about 98% of the time, probably within 24 hours.  The arefi might not mind this, but the Ter'ei'Vikh likely wouldn't be able to keep animals alive, in a coma, this way for more than a day.  You could explain that constant contact of the arefi tendrils, or some extract from the tendrils, keeps the animal breathing, yada yada yada, whatever explanation you can come up with for how an animal would keep breathing when in a deep coma like this.

As an aside, what does kitocran mean?  Where did the word "kitocran" come from?

The syntax of the entry is pretty confusing, my good man.  Run it through spell-check when it's running well for you, and then I'd suggest getting someone to do a Uri-check for you.

I think you've uncovered a wonderful prospect, Xera, and I'm anxious to see what follows!
