Anyway, I'm working to define the shifting so as it is not so mystical. It will be explained more than I tried to do in my first revision, but not to the extreme, of course. I think I can make the issue both mystical and realistic if I give it a divine magic framework.

Azhira - my question was more:  How much are we able to know generally from areas which are so far away from the center of the world (=Santharia), that is not just a question for you, but for all Nybelmar and Aeruillin developers also. I will post the question more generally. I know, you want to describe your tribe as detailed as any santharia tribe, but just ask yourself - what did the middle ages really know from China or other far away countries? Were it facts or more lore?

I would like to add something to the general religious magic discussion for the record then we can let it fall back forgotten again (until Talia resurrects it someday)

*ahem*

One of the key aspects of shamanistic/nature magic would be the use of objects and symbols that represent the specific deity or spirit. One general quality we could define for the various Caelereth gods would be that they channel their gifts through a special relic or item. The item symbolizes the god and through that the god manifests its "supernatural" power.

Perhaps through one's faith and the proper channeling does the god grant "magic". I think this could be especially true in shaman magic where various tribes such as the Mullogs and Kaaer believe in spirits. Explaining faith alone doesn't seem to work, so by implementing a sort of deed, object or ritual, then the gods will grant their gifts. Especially with nature-centric type tribes, the power manifests through a divine, blessed symbol of nature.

Divine magic is gained by actively practicing your faith and reverence to the objects and to'avatars of your god. I also think that all of the gods should be recognized as granting powers of various types. Denying that one god overrules another or that one faith is the only faith does not work in a fantasy world. If different arcane magic systems can co-exist, than different clerical magics should too. Ximaxian magic and Krean magic co-exist and no one can deny the powers there.

No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith. And that, I fear, for any reasoning, conscious being, would be the cruelest trick of all.

Files have been replaced again, but the question remains how long this will last. SMF support will have a look at the security problem.

It has been hacked. The third time in 3 days. I need to replace the changed files again (won't happen before evening) - and then see what the SMF support recommends as a strategy.

Arti, could you maybe take a look at the RPG board? I got a message from my anti-virus program and now I can't access the column on the right with the list of current threads and the shoutbox. Thankies :)
