Fantastique!

I must get myself some sort of recording system.  Using the very primitive Sound Recorder, I played back your amazingly medieval piece, added two harmonies to it, and re-recorded.  (Unfortunately 15 seconds is about all the attachment size this post can handle...)  Please ignore the horrible 'hissing' background noise - obviously this is not anything we can put up - but wouldn't it be fun if we could somehow 'sing together'?  :)

P.S.  If it says 'Windows cannot open this file' just choose 'select from list' and use Windows Media Player - it will run just fine....

Lovely Judy!  I know there is some free - or shareware for iMacs... Macs  have a build in microphone, that might not be the best idea, but I wouldn't mind some background noises (=tavern) either, if that would mean to get your voices on the site.

Your voice  is a bit dominant here, but that would be the task of the software to make it perfect.

Wow, very nice Judith.  Having your voice(s) in there really gives it a medieval quality to it that wasn't there with my version, which was more geared toward a primitive chant.  I like it very much and can see the potential here. 

Talia, its not so much confidence (a little i spose) but the fact I live in an apartment and am always worried my warbling will bring the old broomstick pounding on my ceiling ruetine from my neighbors.  Not sure how loud I can get away with.  So, until I get a chance (read: no roommate with the tv blaring in the background) to sing during the day on a weekend, I'll probably sub-consciously keep holding back.

But, thank you for the encouragement.  Love to sing, but have only been able to let people hear me for the last couple years, due to horrendous self esteem issues.  But hearing Wren do the music here, and listening to all the wonderful compositions from Gean and others, I really wanted to contribute in this regard. 

And really, I never realized how hard it is to keep from sounding country.  I'm from Alberta, Canada, and have never been to the southern states, but my voice has a very strong country twang, even when I talk at times.  Hmmm, maybe I'm a Texan reincarnated.  Would explain the cowboy hat and the wrangler jeans. buck  We sure we can't give the Remusians a southern drawl??  Just one more line in the revision would do it. rolleyes

I agree - it was a treat to 'sing with'!

And yeah, Talia, even at full volume Alt's recording was not very loud.  If I boosted the gain I also got louder hissing, so I had to balance that out.  Then because it was the crudest possible overdubbing (I played Alt's voice through Windows Media while Sound Recorder was running, and sang along sotto voce - really!  That was me about two feet away from my computer singing in a whisper! ) AND because I'm singing descant and alto while Altario only has the original melody, it's pretty unbalanced.  But if both of us could get a decent recording system, it would be no problem....

Okay, Altario, I ADORE your voice--I have this incredible weakness for bass voices (my darling husband is one) and they make me melt all over the floor.  (oozes herself back together again)

Your voices work together well--it sounds lovely, even with the "hissing" and poor recording systems.

*sigh*  I Know.. I need to get a better recording system... I use sound, like Judith.... Is it the mic or the system that uses it that sucks?  I'm willing to put money towards getting something better.... just not sure what I need to fix....
