So you say as we're egocentric that mankind doesn't necessarily need to exist. We just think we're the most important being on Earth, which is a case of existential hubris. So if mankind is possibly extinguished due to its own fault then that's just a valid case of Darwinistic selection and therefore nothing that sets the universe out of balance, eh?

*nods* It's not the world's fault we evolved in such a way that we can't breath water, or fly, or survive without adapting our environment to our needs. Which once again proves even Mother Nature has her off-days when creating things..

The problem of course with this weird species of the "human" is that - unlike other species - it might not only manage to extinguish itself and a few others, but also pretty much everything else on the planet in its wake. You might call that the "peak of evolution" then if you like...

I've got snow. It's just covered up the ice nicely enough that I can walk down slight inclines and almost break my elbow and my neck. Snow is great!

No snow here, but I live in South Cal.
Cold
here is 60 degrees F. (15.5 C) Even when I lived up north, snow was a rare occurrence.

No Art, the Peak of Evolution is that one species we cannot kill, except perhaps if we blast the whole planet into oblivion; Cockroaches

I don't hold to Darwinism, but if I did I would add one thing to Mira's assertion: Texas State Birds. *swats a mosquito*

Actually I heard somewhere that cockroaches are on the decline, and scientists can't figure out why...

There have been countless life ending catastrophies in the history oif our little world..... Man is just the newest catastrophe
Like Mira said, we take a tiny sliver out of geographical time and call it "normal" because it suits our needs. eh, Al Gore probably invented the Climate when he was busy putting together the Internet for us.....

Snow in Iowa. more then in recent years we've had years with more thou a lot more.
last year it was fall weather till January then we got winter. Midwest weather is always fickle.
Climate alarmists go back and forth from global cooling to global warming sometime in the feature they will switch back to global cooling again. Probably switching a few times before the century is thru I just hope Al gore lives long enough to warn us of the impending global cooling crisis, so I can see the reaction when someone asks him about his change in position
as for global warming the big bright furnace in the sky causes it.
her is a poem about climate change.
We’re Friends of the Pleistocene; damn little ice we’ve seen;
Listen and we’ll tell you why:
The glaciers retreated, the lakes are depleted,
The temperature’s risen too high.
We’ve till and we’ve gravel, our problems unravel,
When stones oriented we see.
We’ve eskers and kames and various names
To apply to the glacial debris.
We’ve loess and we’ve soils which add to our toils,
We’ve lakes and we’ve peat bogs to bore.
With Quercus and Fagus and Pinus to plague us,
The pollen we cannot ignore.
So we’re Friends of the Pleistocene, where geology’s nice and clean.
Granites and faults we decry.
Instead of petrology, on carbon chronology
And climatic change we rely.

Sometimes I yearn for the snow filled days of my youth,(with their -40 to -60 deg.F temps in Northern Minnesota) but then think of the aches and pains of the arthritis and am glad for the hi temps of 88 and lows of 77. Much as I love the snow and cold, the tropics are more suitable now for my poor old bones...
I think I will go soak knees and ankles now in the 82 deg. ocean water...

Oh for the Small Ice Age, when the winters were harsh, and gardeners could stay at home for at least a month and a half each year

Hey there folks! I finally have some serious time off of work, so decided to visit te forums once again. The place feels a bit deserted to me, what's up?
On topic- no snow in Holland, as usual. I've been just over the border with Germany, and sure, THEY got snow. It's just foggy and cold here though.
For those of us who have it, and wish they didn't, those who don't and wish they had, and those who enjoy (not) having it, my best wishes for the coming days, I hope all of you have some time off, and can spend it with your relatives/friends!
