The following is a list of all the current Herbarium entries which grow, or could be grown, in Northern Sarvonia. This list will be added to after each site update.

Included in each entry is the name, range, bark colour (if known), leaf colour, flower colour (if any), and a brief description of uses.

NB. If the main Herbarium entry doesn't specifically mention N. Sarvonia, but the conditions for growth can be found there, then the range will be described as "Possible".

For a full description of the plant in question, the reader will have to research the main Herbarium entry.


                                                    BUSHES

Ai'le Bush

Uses  -  Black, grape-shaped fruit is used to make wine and vinegar. Fruit and stems used as thickening agent in stews, or to make Nightgrape Pie. Stems maybe hallucinogenic if dried and smoked. Some medicinal properties.

Azure Flower

Uses  -  Flower produces acid which removes rust from metal. Also good for cleaning wounds and promotes faster healing. Red syrup produced by roots is edible. If mixed with acid from flower it becomes a good insecticide

Dalferia Plant
Range  -  Possible in inland Southern regions
Stem  -  Brown and woody. Sideshoots Deep Green and Teal
Leaves  -  Light Green or Teal
Flowers  -  Yellow-Orange, Pink, Violet, Azure
Uses  -  Edible Dalferpeas. Flowers used fordecoration, pot-pourri, pressed for bookmarks

Dreamers Breath
Range  -  Possible in drier regions
Stem  -  Green
Leaves  -  Light Green
Flowers  -  White, with Yellow center
Uses  -  Flowers brewed in water for relaxing, mildy healing drink, safe for children. Also used in baths for sweet-smelling skin & hair. Produces oil when pressed, used as perfume. Plants growing nearby are healthier and more robust

Erissa's Tears
Range  -  Common in sunny spots
Stem  -  Dark Green
Leaves  -  Dark Green
Flowers  -  Shades of Purple
Uses  -  None, other than as a hair decoration

Flowers  -  In the morning, the buds are Pale Mauve. By noon, the flowers are Pink or Purple. Mid-afternoon, Scarlet. Evening, Russet or Rust
Uses  -  Medicinal. Flowers are good for soothing burns, rahes, inflammation or dehydration of the skin

Lotann Flower
Range  -  Common everywhere
Stem  -  Green
Leaves  -  Emerald Green
Flowers  -  Yellow in Summer, Grey seedhead in Autumn
Uses  -  Bitter but edible leaves. Roots make a dubious coffee substitute. Flowers are an ingredient of Ormelin

Nehtor's Tears
Range  -  Possible in most areas
Stem  -  Green
Leaves  -  Green
Flowers  -  Range from Uderza Blue to Santhran Violet
Uses  -  Prized as garden flowers. Bulbs used to make Blue dye for fabrics and paint. Leaves make a bitter tea, good for blood ailments and fertility. Also helps guard against winter colds

Range  -  Mynian Plains, Celeste Lowlands
Stem  -  Green
Leaves  -  ?

Sunsmile

Uses  -  Young leaves used in salads, soups, and stews. Roots, leaves, and flowers make refreshing tea. Milky sap eases irritation from rashes. All parts in batwater ease aching joints and muscles. Nutritious winter fodder for livestock.

Range  -  Common in Northern regions. Found in most cold areas.
Stem  -  Light Blue
Leaves  -  Light Blue
Flowers  -  Darker Blue than Leaves/stem
Uses  -  Sap can cause fever, but will help rid body of sickness. Ice tribes know of unspecified healing properties. They also coat themselves with sap to ward off extreme cold. Valuable nutrients for wild animals.

Range  -  Common wherever magical power is present, wizards graves etc.

Uses  -  Poisonous to small animals. Numbs pain if eaten by humans. Leaves crushed and mixed with fat make numbing salve. Injerin make Tea with roots to keep cool in Summer.

Miyuestiac Bush
Range  -  High altitudes/thin atmosphere. Flat stretches on mountains
Bark  -  Deep Reddish-Brown
Leaves  -  Light Orange
Flowers  -  Green seed-pods. Black berries with single orange ring. Known as Miyu beans
Uses  -  Various medicinal benefits

Trinity Herb
Range  -  Possible in shady forests, rare elsewhere. Won't grow near tall grass.
Stem  -  Dark Green
Leaves  -  ?
Flowers  -  White, occasionally streaks of Red or Purple
Uses  -  Various medicinal. Hung over tavern doors as a sign of welcome. Followers of Eyasha hang sprigs over fireplaces.

Yahrle
Range  -  Common in sunny, grassy areas such as the Wilshirer Heath.
Stem  -  Angular & rough with White, silky hairs
Leaves  -  Feathery with White, silky hairs
Flowers  -  White or pale Lilac
Uses  -  Dried plant made into ointment for treating wounds. Flower brewed into tea to dispel melancholy. Head washed in tea may be a cure for baldness.

Uses  -  Clothing, bedding, ropes, cleaning, tinder, peppery condiment.

Silkenmoss
Range  -  Common in shade & moist air, especially Shaded Forest.
Stem  -  ?
Leaves  -  from Lime Green to Rust Red, depending on season and climate
Flowers  -  Yellow
Uses  -  Tinder/kindling, cushions, diapers, toilet paper, cleaning.

Slykring (Walking Moss)
Range  -  Permafrosted regions with some protection (Trees, rocks etc)
Stem  -  N/A
Leaves  -  Fur or hair with Brown base and Green tops
Flowers  -  None
Uses  -  None

Sou'cald Moss
Range  -  Common on cold surfaces with air-moisture and shade. Also books, bookcases, walls, ceilings.
Description  -  Palm-sized, round, flat, Dark Blue, White, or Earthen tones. Covered in small, bristly hairs.
Uses  -  Nesting material. Greyish-Blue dye.

Squirm Moss
Range  -  Mainly Eastern regions, especially Vindel Mountains and Stone Fields of Peat.
Stems  -  ?
Leaves  -  Dark Grey with Greenish tips
Flowers  -  Greyish Pink with Powder Yellow center. Nutshell is Greyish Red.
Uses  -  Shoots eaten for strength and vigour. Roots used in alcohol. Small animal food.

Fungi

Bikiri Tree Fungus
Range  -  Near strong magical energy, especially with high humidity and cool temperatures.
Description  -  Shelf-like. Colour matches bark of host tree.
Uses  -  Magical. Also made into effective anti-wrinkle cream.

Glowcap Mushroom
Range  -  Dense Fir forests, as far North as the Shadowmarshes.
Description  -  Short stem with "Mages cap" shaped top. In daylight - Pale White with soft Grey shading/mottling. In dark - Phosphorescent Aqua.
Uses  -  Speciality artists pigments and theatrical make-up.

Koeken Fungus
Range  -  Anywhere except deserts and permanently snowy Northern regions.
Description  -  Flat, oval. Top - Light Brown with murky Green overtones. Underneath - Yellowish Ivory to Green-tinged Tan.
Uses  -  Mainly culinary.

Queprur's Fungus
Range  -  Anywhere death has occurred. Slaughterhouses, battlefields etc.
Description  -  Nondescript. Small, rounded, Dull Grey.
Uses  -  Has various negative effects, depending on race.

Squilla Fungus
Range  -  Common, mainly South of Nyermersys. Moist, shady areas. Will grow in sun, but smaller and less tasty.
Description  -  Semi-circular, rough, ridged skin. Shelf like. Dusty Brown.
Uses  -  Many culinary uses.

Sulcho Mushroom
Range  -  Possible in moist areas with little or no sun, ie: caves.
Description  -  Very large (knee high). Stocky base with irregular, half-globe cap. Pale Ivory with Salmon pink gills. Light Peach spores.
Uses  -  many culinary uses. Filters impurities. Some medical uses. Carving. Kindling.

                                               SUCCULENTS

Peat Rock Cactus
Range  -  With rocks in the Stone Fields of Peat.
Description  -  Resembles a smooth, round rock. Palmspan diameter.Height varies with amount of stored water. Waxy coating. Colour matches surrounding rocks.
Uses  -  Treated skin used as make-shift liquid carrier.

Deciduous

Arne'pheran Tree
Range  -  Broadleaf variety - Common, especially in Shaded Forest. Narrow-leaf variety - Common, especially in Cartashian Woods and Themed'lon Forest. Black variety - Less common, found only in Hovel Frond Forest.
Bark  -  Greyish, with Light Grey sub-bark. Very thorny.
Leaves  -  Southern trees have Green, waxy leaves. Northern varieties have lighter Green leaves.
Flowers  -  Male - Large, Orange, with 3 gauzy White stripes. Female - Smaller, Orange, with a single White stripe.
Uses  -  Building, food, tools, adhesive, dye, weaponry.

Ashwude
Range  -  Common in Southern regions.
Bark  -  Smooth. Yellowish or Orangy-Brown, also Greyish-Brown or Taupe.
Leaves  -  Spring/Summer - Deep Yellowish-Green. Autumn - Yellow, Brown or Crimson.
Flowers  -  Male - Reddish-Brown. Female - Reddish.
Uses  -  Construction. Furniture. Tool handles. Toys. Carving.

Mithril Birch
Range  -  Common, especially in Shadowlands and Shaded Forest.
Bark  -  Greyish-White.
Leaves  -  Dark Green, or dark Greyish-Green.
Flowers  -  Reddish seed cones.
Uses  -  Wood - furniture. Branches/twigs - firewood. Bark - parchment.

White Birch
Range  -  Common as far North as Wood Forest, especially in the Hovel Frond Forest, Shaded Forest, the Wounds of Sylvan, and the Shadowlands.
Bark  -  Whitish or Greyish-White.
Leaves  -  Dark Green or Greyish-Green.
Flowers  -  Yellowish-Brown catkins. Tan or Yellow-Brown cones.
Uses  -  Bark - parchment and paper, basket weaving. Wood - carving.

Ironwood
Range  -  Rare. Only found on lower slopes of Mt Emesz'gob in Prominent Mountains.
Bark  -  Young - Smooth, Elken Brown or Cream. Mature - Through Browns to Nor'sidian.
Leaves  -  Depends on age of tree and season. FromShiny, dark Green, through Gnastheen, Browns, Bronze, Copper, Reds, Black.
Flowers  -  Bright Red with Yellow center. Black nut.
Uses  -  Weaponry, Armour, Jewellery, Construction, Dyes, Wind-chimes.

Maple
Range  -  Common
Bark  -  Rough. Deep Brown, Tan, or Greyish. Branches - Greyish, Greenish-Tan, Light Browns.
Leaves  -  Spring/Summer - Yellowish-Green, Verdurous Green, Greyish/dull Green. Autumn - Yellows, Golds, Oranges, Bright Reds.
Flowers  -  Yellow, Greenish-Yellow.
Uses  -  Culinary, Construction, Furniture.

White Oak
Range  -  Common in deciduous forests
Bark  -  Greyish, shingle-like plates
Leaves  -  Varies with climate and season, but generally shades of Green
Flowers  -  Catkins of small, Yellowish-Green flowers. Acorn colour varies widely
Uses  -  Slow-burning firewood, Furniture, construction, carving. Wood and bark contain a substance used to prepare paper and leather.

Red Oak
Range  -  Some Southern mountainsides
Bark  -  Greyish, shingle-like plates
Leaves  -  Green. Turn brilliant Scarlet in Autumn if weather is cold enough.
Flowers  -  Catkins of small, Yellowish-Green flowers. Acorn colour varies widely.

Range  -  Common
Bark  -  Dark Grey, smooth
Leaves  -  Deep, verderousGreens to Very dark, shadowy Greens
Flowers  -  Catkins of small, Yellowish-Green flowers. Acorn colour varies widely
Uses  -  Slow-burning firewood. Furniture, construction, carving. Wood/bark contains a substance used in the preparation of paper and leather.

Silkel Tree
Range  -  Mainly the Shaded forest. Scarce near Dark Elves.
Bark  -  Thread-like. In Spring/Summer - Silvery-Bronze. Autumn - Silvery-White
Leaves  -  Very reflective. Spring/Mid-Summer - Rich Golden-Green. Late Summer/Autumn - Brilliant Gold or Golden-Red.
Flowers  -  Rarely. Golden-Green buds. Silvery-White, powdered with Golden pollen. Bronze nuts contain Silvery seeds.
Uses  -  Many and varied. Mainly medicinal.

Urban Tree
Range  -  Possible. Rare near Dark Elves
Bark  -  ?
Leaves  -  Green
Flowers  -  ?  Produces a sweet, Creamy-Red fruit known as Voral

Weeping Willow
Range  -  Common, prefers moist ground
Bark  -  Rough, grooved
Leaves  -  Light Green, glossy, slim, blade-shaped

Wolf Willow
Range  -  Common, prefers colder climates with less moisture
Bark  -  Rough, grooved

Marsh Willow
Range  -  Common, prefers dank conditions
Bark  -  No discernable trunk. Produces long, whippy shoots from ground level

Ahrhillicia Pine
Range  -  Possible in deep soil. Prefers coastal situations
Bark  -  Dark, rough, covered in Chestnut fibers

Uses  -  Culinary. Needles used for fresh-smelling flooring. Cheap, low-grade timber

Arvins Cedar
Range  -  Common in wet/damp soils, but will tolerate most conditions. Abundant along the Luquador river and tributaries. Huge stands in Shaded Forest.
Bark  -  Thin, Brownish-Red
Leaves/Needles  -  Waxy, Scaley, Flat
Flowers  -  Cone like. Produce Green, oblong, cone-shaped fruit
Uses  -  Excellent water resistance. Many and varied

Coastal Redwood
Range  -  Coastal forests
Bark  -  Thick, fibrous, Rust-Red
Needles  -  Flat, Green
Flowers  -  None. Small seed cones
Uses  -  Limited so far. NEEDS EXPANSION

Tulmine Tree
Range  -  Common. None in Kanapan Peninsula or far North-East
Bark  -  Flat with Grey ridges
Needles  -  Dark Green, Bluish tinge in Summer. Scaly, waxy, round
Flowers  -  White-tipped group of needles with small, Yellow bud inside. In Summer female tree produces small, White berries which are very sour initially. As they turn to a Bluish tint, their sweetness increases until it resembles honey. The male trees produce Brown, egg-shaped cones, containing Orange spores.

                                              VINES AND CREEPERS

Kragghi Vine
Range  -  Common as far North as the Gulf of Oh'cant'aelwyn. Prefers high-altitude, exposed places in direct sunlight
Vine  -  Grey-Green, ground hugging
Leaves  -  Dull Greenish-Grey, small, thin and spiky
Flowers  -  ?
Uses  -  mainly culinary as a spice or hot sauce

Nightshimmer Vine
Range  -  Common
Vine  -  Climber
Leaves  -  Dark Green, broad
Flowers  -  Dull White, short lived. Transluscent at night and emit an addictive fragrance
Uses  -  Possibly used by skilled herbalists to induce clairvoyant dreams

Aomar Algae
Range  -  Common in stagnant freshwater pools, ponds, and lakes. Can survive freezing.
Description  -  Dark Green, Dark Green-Blue, Black, Dark- Dark Brown, Yellowish. Begins as a furry film on rocks etc, gradually lengthens and thickens.
Flowers  -  In Summer, occasionally grows short stalks with black pods at the tip, possible seeds or spore pods.
Uses  -  Vital and nutricious food for aquatic animals. Considered a nuisance by most races.

Krakenweed
Range  -  Common, especially in NE. Lakes, swamps, and slow-running rivers.
Description  -  Short tentacles are Green/Brown. Longer tentacles are Red/Brown with bulbous ends containing faint Yellow poison.
Uses  -  Poison is odourless and almost colourless, quick acting (1-30 secs), depending on victims size.

Lemertia
Range  -  Common in freshwater rivers and streams
Description  -  when young, resembles Brown/Green slime on rocks etc. Can grow up to 1 ped long if not eaten by water creatures. Resembles hair wafting in currents.
Uses  -  None for people. Vital food for water creatures.

Lifereed
Range  -  Common in rivers, lakes and swamps
Description  -  In clean water colour is Yellow, as water quality decreases colour changes, going through Greens to Brown. Strong flexible, hollow reed. In spring a single Blue or Violet flower atop the stem, which changes to a corn-shaped fruit containing seeds in Autumn and Winter.
Uses  -  Mullogs main users - various applications. Humans use it for thatch. Brew can be made to ease mild headaches.

Tyrscaru Sea Lily
Range  -  Occasionally seen off the colder coasts
Roots  -  Straggly, reach from surface to sea-bed
Leaves  -  ?  surrounded by poison-filled air bladders
Flowers  -  Several star-shaped White blossoms, floating on the surface
Uses  -  Kasumarii harvest the bladders for the poison. Sailors can use the roots as a makeshift rope

Yealm Reed
Range  -  Possible. Tolerates fresh and salt water
Stem  -  Beige, stiff, up to 3 peds
Leaves  -  Beige, strap-like
Flowers  -  Hand-sized, feather-like plume. Releases seeds in Autumn
Uses  -  Roots purify water. Seeds feed water creatures. Important, cheap thatch material

Waterstar
Range  -  Common in rivers and lakes if a current is present. Also a salt-water variety
Stem  -  Dark Green, up to 3 peds (10 peds for salt-water variety)
Leaves  -  Dark Green, lance-like
Flowers  -  Pure White, 6 petals, grows just above surface. Green center. Flower is surrounded by 5 leaves. Produce berries after flowering
Uses  -  Many and varied medicinal and culinary

Poeritt Weed
Range  -  Common on hills, plains, and valleys. Also found in windy, coastal areas
Stem  -  Tough, vine like, ground hugging
Leaves  -  Light Green to light Greyish-Green with a faintly metallic sheen. Long, slender, grass-like
Flowers  -  Soft Greyish-Purple. Hang face down. Small Grey berries. Both smell fresh and tangy
Uses  -  Berries used in dying cloth. Melad'rhim Elves use berries in tattooing

Skyweed
Range  -  Common at high altitudes
Stem  -  ?
Leaves  -  Grey-Blue, feathery
Flowers  -  Rich Magenta. Bright Red berries. Both luminescent
Uses  -  A quick-growing and spreading garden pest. Many and varied uses

Yrom Shrub
Range  -  Common, prefers higher altitudes
Stem  -  Woody, Brown
Leaves  -  Dark Green to Purple. Small, slightly fleshy
Flowers  -  Bell-shaped, small. White, Purple, Blues, Silver, Reds, Crimsons, Golds
Uses  -  Animal food, thatch, rope, bedding, ale, brooms, medicinal, honey

Alth'tiert
Range  -  Prefers volcanic regions, especially Celeste Mountains
Stem  -  N/A
Leaves  -  Long, Dark Yellow with darker central tripe
Flowers  -  N/A
Uses  -  Helet'ine produce rich Golden dye from leaves

Pendrowe Plant Beings
Range  -  Thought to be extensive. Hovel Frond and Shaded Forests thought to contain large groups
Appearance  -  Can resemble any plant, from trees to flowers
Special abilities  -  Capable of healing sick plants and animals. Everything grows much better in their presence
