After much deliberation and mince pie eating, I have decided that my Masterwork shall be 'The Garrison town of Hell'wrung'. (Thanks for the idea, Azzy!)

It will, no doubt, comprise of more than one entry, and may be some time in the making, but I am looking forward to the challenges ahead with much salivation!

I shall post a basic guide to what I hope to acheive in the next couple of days.

Once again, I'd like to congratulate Mannix and Altario on their nominations, and thank the Members for their show of confidence in us. grin thumbup

I'm not sure at the moment whether I can fully realise my plans for Hell'wrung in a single entry. I may have to break it down into two or three smaller entries.

Then again, I may not. I'm still drawing-up my plans, so things may work out differently.

You could, for now, write on large "overview" entry, to be supplemented by the parts at a later date.

Ok, after more thinking and even more mince pies (ye Gods, is there no end to them?), I have arrived at the decision that the garrison town of Hell'wrung is built atop a plateau overlooking the Heaths of Eph'denn. It consists of a large Osther-oc encampment/training camp, and a town made-up of all the tradesmen etc which make their living from supplying the troops.
They are built behind two huge stone towers (battlements etc) which span the only easy passage through the cliffs for many strals.

My question here is: Do I do the entry as a whole, or do I split it into 2, a geographical one for the settlement and a buildings one for the towers? (The towers are part of the Garrison, housing many hundreds of the troops, so they are an integral part of the settlement)

Any thoughts much appreciated.

My Advice- Split it into two but do ONE as your masterwork and leave the other til later....

Yes- perhaps i could have used such guidance before I started my masterwork, which is now approaching Coren-esque proportions.... mine will certainly need to be split :P
If you need any help Tharoc, just ask!

Hrm...

I would definitely split it into multiple parts, Tharoc. Also, don't forget you have other options for Hell'Wrung such as a story or myth about it. Maybe even a (in)famous person who founded it...or perhaps a temple entry about the religion? Maybe just a famous building within the settlement and grow from there.

Thanks for all your advice, it is very much appreciated.

I have decided to do my Masterwork on the actual Towers, after all, they were there before the township.
I have many ideas for them, now I just need to collate them into some kind of intelligible order!

As per Grun's PM, I think I need to create a history for the Towers before I get too far into the entry itself. This will allow me to better write the main entry.

So, now I just need to research which tribes were in the area just before and just after the Third War, and I have my start!

It was a shame that Tharoc never finished his Masterwork. We traded notes and ideas on Hell'wrung over PMs and he had a fairly good idea what he wanted. He was going to start with the Hell'wrung towers as a places entry and perhaps work to expand that.

I propose that I take it upon myself and assemble his ideas and write the entry that he never could. The entry would be dedicated to him and perhaps be his "last work". We traded ideas, and Hell'wrung was a significant part of Osther-Oc, Kaaer and Caaehl'heroth history, so I feel that it should be done.

Objections or encouragement welcome.

Would be great if you could do that, Azhira! You know how the entry should have looked liked, and you had a great cooperation with Tharoc. He surely would have loved to see you take over, and to see his name on that masterwork entry would be only fair. Not only in regards of this entry, but also because he did a lot of things in Santharia that qualify him to be an official member, entries, stories, even his general presence in form of the resident orcish joker made it fun to have him around.

So yup, I'd be happy if you could finish this work for him, Azhira!  thumbup

I approve. I can think of none better to continue Tharoc's work on this than you, Azhira.

Files have been replaced again, but the question remains how long this will last. SMF support will have a look at the security problem.

It has been hacked. The third time in 3 days. I need to replace the changed files again (won't happen before evening) - and then see what the SMF support recommends as a strategy.

Arti, could you maybe take a look at the RPG board? I got a message from my anti-virus program and now I can't access the column on the right with the list of current threads and the shoutbox. Thankies :)
