I have just been moved to tears by the Kuglimz Love Song. I shall learn it and sing it to my lover and companion.

*putting on a brave face* So my question: do any of the Santharian recorded artists have a tip when I look for recording equipment, with the view of eventually offering my own strumming and caterwauling to Santharian ears?

I sing and play guitar lute, and also have an assortment of percussion makers that I occasionally drive said lover and companion up the wall with. Any hints on the gear I'd need to record and digitize these kinds of things?

What kind of guitar do you use? Electric? Acoustic? Acoustic electric?

Where did your plaque go, Nsiki? I can only see 'aspiring member' in normal letters. And above that Eyelian Pilgram, which I *think* should be pilgrim... no?

Sorry Fu, no advise for you from my side, I'm not a music maker ^.^

*looks up from his book entitled "The Integration of Qualitative and Quantitative Methods in Empirical Social Research"*

Acoustic, brother Nsiki. Both classical (nylon strings) and folk (steel).

I realized that I do own a digital voice recorder, actually. But I doubt the recording quality would be good enough for music, even if I purchased a microphone to go with it. - ?

I use the Audacity program which I downloaded off the Internet and a small Nexxtech microphone for my songs.  As long as I can keep the place quiet enough to record something (no trivial feat with my four children!) it does the job just fine.

I think that's really sweet, Shabakuk, and I (and I'm sure the Bard, as the singer, is too) am very flattered that you want to use my song.  I hope you can manage to record your music, as we could use more actual music on the site.  I can't actually play anything, so my music is all vocal.  Having more variety is always good.

Thanks, Alysse!

I'd never heard of Audacity. It looks fascinating. I shall definitely go microphone shopping sometime soon.

The lady of my heart likes your & Judith's song, too! I've been playing it on the guitar ...  :)

Hmmm.... well, ya, Alysse's microphone would work fine for voice... for guitars, you may want to invest in an electric acoustic. I was able to get a fine one for about 200 dollars, but I'll see if I can't find you a better way to mike an acoustic.

Thanks, Nsiki. I'd appreciate any help. From your electric acoustic, would you still need a mic to pick up voice and guitar simultaneously, or would you record separate tracks, with the guitar recorded directly from the pick-up?

I would record the tracks separately - you could mix them easily enough in Audacity. Just buy a jack that's compatible with a computer, and audicity, or any music-editing software, should be able to pick it up for you. And then make sure the mic can plug in as well. Depending on the computer, you might be able to record both tracks simultaneously, or you might have to do the voice, then plug in the guitar. I'm heading to band practice later today, I'll ask the guys what kind of mic they'd recommend.

Thanks, y'all! I'm on the even darker side, so I'll try Audacity.

Maggie, your music is truly beautiful. In terms of sound quality, I think your harp is picked up rather clearer/sharper than the piano, wouldn't you say?

For myself, experiments with the voice recorder have proven that I need to buy a microphone of some sort. I went to a music technology shop today that a friend had recommended, only to find that it had shut down.  :( Will try again soon.

Cheers, Maggie!

And (inhales:) Nsikigan Ho'Tonanese Yourth (exhales): any news from your band? What do you play, anyway? Any chance of your band becoming Santhbards, too?

Just call me Rocksilk, friend ;)
Or Nsiki :)
Anyways, yes, I've looked at a few mics - for voice and guitar, I recommend the http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=SPRB1&id=SPRB1&l=FROOGLE
Or, the B1 Studio model. Not for the stage really, but an excellent quality studio mic, this'll get the job done.
Myself, I sing, though I do dabble in the other instruments.... perhaps i will contribute musically to the dream someday :)

Ah, too bad that internet is so restricted in China, Ferra. Can't be much fun surfing the web that way if Big Brother's watching you... Hope you enjoy your stay nevertheless!

Hi, dear Arti and other developers!

This year I am in China and cannot use any Google services including YouTube. For this reason I stopped uploading new Nepris videos. I can also not read any comments there.

It just crossed my mind that this information might be useful to you.

Cheers
