Wow, Santharia is great.  I have been spending my time the past couple days reading through the newbie stuff and trying to get acquainted.  I am hoping I have found a home to express creativity and make some new friends in the process.  Ever since I can remember I have loved fantasy.  I especially love to draw and am hoping to be able to contribute artwork to this site.  To see some examples see the artwork folder in the photo section of my myspace page.  www.myspace.com/bradlyvancamp
Please let me know if you think I will be a fit.  I would love to create new pics for the various beasts, people, weapons, etc that still do not have a visual representation in Santharia.
Please be patient (yet brutally honest) as I get accustomed to this wonderful new world.

Hey Seeker,

I'm fairly new to the whole meet and greet thing and I'm sure some massive catastrophe (a great, green orc lookin' for cookies probably) is holdin' up the kitchen else others would be around already with plates piled high with treats and such, though I'm beginnin' that's how they capture those innocent people and keep'em here, but I didn't say that.

Anyways, I thought I'd drop by and welcome ya to Santharia, takin' a chance to say Hi and calmly let ya know what's up before everyone else wanders into the room and starts stakin' claims. No worries, they do this everytime we manage to lure ... I mean inspire new writers, idealists, creators and the like into the Newbie Forum.

Enjoy your look around and the peace and quiet for a bit longer, as well as your stay in this world. Just a word to the wise, if ya lookin' to keep all ya body parts and ya freedom avoid the greenhouse until supervised. I'm sure we have guided tours sometime durin' the day (which includes a hundred or more soldiers with crossbows, swords, spears and the like) and even then parts of that place remain dangerous.

:) Anyways, take care and welcome to the Dream ...
Garret

*And now its time for me to find a hidin' spot. For while I can take on the local orc, the odds don't seem to be in my favor when ya add in the local gardeners.*

Welcome Seeker.  You can stop your search.  You have found what it is you are looking for.

I'm Altario, from the Frozen Wastes up north.  I have looked at your pics page, and have to say that I'm impressed. The biggest area in need of more work here is artwork for entries.  Pictures add so much.

On a completely selfish note, the north is very short on artwork.  :)

Now, Garret is prolly correct in that a certain orc has undoubtedly snaggled all the cookies, however, I can offer you a Ásen'evathón berry flavoured sno-cone.  You can be the first compendumist to get one.  Eat it quick, though, before it melts, and before a certain Bard figures out the recipe for it.  I'm hoping to open a franchise down here before it ends up in her famous cookery book.

Welcome to the dream.

Hey Seeker!

I would be Decipher Ziron of the exotic Nybelmarian continent (better known as 'Deci' to most though) and I'd just like to express a warm-hearted welcome from the more obscure Nybelmarian team. Its always nice to have new members, especially those who show such initial talent as you do!

You know, Nybelmar isn't brimming with artwork either....

Welcome to Caelereth!

Since when did we start calling Nybelmar "Deci"?  Hmm... a bit conceited eh?

Seeker, is that really the kinda guy you wanna draw for?  :P  Besides, snow is sooo much easier to colour than a bunch of winding exotic plants. rolleyes

Look at how critical Altario is of others! Not only does he pick up MINOR flaws, he extrapolates them in an attempt to attach shame to my name! If this does not condemn his character (or at least his eligibility to use your artwork) than I don't know what will!

Gah!

Hehe, welcome from me as well. I believe Garret gave you all the warnings needed, so no need to go over that from me.

Don't worry about me pulling you one way or another, I'm the person who's always here but rarely develops. If you need a big stick to beat one of these guys off you so that you can make your own choice, though, I'll stand right close by with one ready for you :P

Greetings Seeker!
I am Miraran (or Mira for those with bad memories), and one of aforementioned resident Gardeners.  (A remark, m'Lady Garret, we will be discussing soon, have no doubt.) I also work alongside Decipher in Nybelmar, and deal with the Herbarium section.

Now i wont be pulling on you to come to Nybelmar.. I'm just going to bribe you instead *slips a marvelously cut gemstone into Seekers hand as he shakes it*

Thank you all for the warm welcome and thank you Altario for the Sno cone (delicious).  A little more about myself.  They call me the Seeker as I have always been in search of knowledge, wisdom and of course ...powers.  Even as a young boy I studied out of the great books in hopes of wielding the ancient secrets.  Before coming to this land I marked my body with runes in an effort to become one with life, energy, abilities...power.   Some of my efforts were futile , but some were fruitful.  However I see as I enter this world my powers have left me and I am left as a babe in the wilderness.  As I learn your ways and get to know your people (and who can be trusted)  I will work my way back to a respectable level.  I understand you have a rune master in this land.  I will desire to speak with him. Maybe he can help me to remove these useless markings from my old world and provide new runes--- runes that harbour power in Caelereth.

In the meantime I am looking for meaningful work in this new world.  I suppose the protocol is to find an entry that I would like to illustrate and make a proposal?   What are the size limitations on pictures?
I will search through the lands of my new friends to find something inspiring to draw. If you see something useful in my posted works that may be useful to you,  please let me know.

Now, while i know not of runes of power as you describe them, the Trumarim of Nybelmar, from whence i hail, have much knowledge of the Thergerim runes, or Dwarven runes as you might call them. Maybe you would like to seek out one of the Sarvonian Dwarftribes and ask them?

Myself, i am but a humble scribe here. Nonetheless, i welcome you to Santhaira, Seeker!

I am not sure if this is the proper way to go about things.  I would like to develop an illustration of the Bone Tree Apparition.  Is this permitted and where should I post an example once I have a first rendering?

Illustrations can be posted in the Santharian artists and resources forum.

As for permission, I don't think there's any problem with illustrating that entry... Whatever tickles your fancy, especially if it's an entry already on the site rather than something new (I know it is, I just looked it up, just saying ;))

*hands Seeker a sponge to wipe off his markings* Maybe they can be rubbed off with a bit of an effort :)

Anyway, welcome to the Dream! And I see you've got some potential there with your pics, while there sure are some things to improve here and there to get out a better effect. But that's what we're here for: To help you along your way with giving input and make things perfect and get something on the site that adds to the fantasy universe we're all constructing here.

The Bone Tree definitely is a fascinating choice, so I'm curious on what you can come up with. We don't really have any major "size limits" for drawings as far as I know, just make versions of pics you post not too monstrous - if a picture is finished, you can always send me a larger one, so that I have it for disposal in order to resize it the way it fits best on the site, or so that I have a bigger source to be able to make crops in case this is required.

At any rate: Nice to have you around, let's hope we'll see more of your work in the near future!  grin

Welcome, fair Seeker, whose search is done! If you ever perchance wish to draw a mountain vista, or some such thing, the Rimmerins always seek art!
Anyways, welcome to the dream, I'm excited to see whats in store for the bone tree.
By the way, I love the lion with the saddle bit on your myspace :)
