Da Orcs Go Marchin' One by One
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' One by One
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' One by One
Da little ones stop and are bullied for fun

And dey all go marchin' off to da war
To kill off da dwarves
SMASH SMASH SMASH

Da Orcs Go Marchin' Two by Two
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' Two by Two
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' Two by Two
Da little ones stop and start up a blue

And dey all go marchin' off to da war
To kill off da dwarves
SMASH SMASH SMASH

Da Orcs Go Marchin' Three by Three
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' Three by Three
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' Three by Three
Da little ones stop and are forced ta flee

And dey all go marchin' off to da war
To kill off da dwarves
SMASH SMASH SMASH

Da Orcs Go Marchin' Four by Four
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' Four by Four
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' Four by Four
Da little ones stop and start ta snore

And dey all go marchin' off to da war
To kill off da dwarves
SMASH SMASH SMASH

Da Orcs Go Marchin' Five by Five
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' Five by Five
Hurrah Hurrah
Da Orcs Go Marchin' Five by Five
Da little ones stop and are eaten alive

And dey all go marchin' off to da war
To kill of da dwarves
SMASH SMASH SMASH

I figure that the orcs would probably end off there ... as I assume they have five fingers on each hand :D

Anyway, it is essentially 'The Ants Go Marching' ... No Orcs were harmed in the writing of this ... although Tharoc is likely to be after me with a massive club, if I don't offer him cookies.

** Cookies for Tharoc **

I fixed up my spelling mistake in the above :D

Oh, your biggest worry is not Tharoc...

The dwarves would like a word with you.  Several, though they are all likely to be short ones.
Oh, look, what a massive axe that one is carrying!  And they really don't like having their racial name spelt incorrectly,
even in Tharian.... not that you are going to have time to fix it....

Run Dek, grab the herbicide and head for the greenhouses, I'll blind them with science!

Seriously though. These are just great. It seems to me though, that lacking form as they do we should toss these over to the Library no?

EEEEEEEEEEK!

Thanks for pointing that out, Bard ... I'll try to fix that up ... I've got longer legs than dwarves, I think ... so I might be able to run faster than them.

As suggested I've moved the thread into the Library, as it's a game described in an entry as such. Question is where exactly we'll put it on a page, as it doesn't fit under "Children's Poems" or "Counting Rhymes", but maybe we can make an own "Children Games" page in the Library.

Not EXACTLY a children's song ... more an advertising song sung by the singers amongst the Black Butterfly Rovers ... primarily to children. My thought is that the Rovers send their musicians and singers out to towns, encouraging people, especially children, to come and watch their show ...

Hey, there! Hoop-la! The Rovers are in town!
Have you seen the actors?  Have you seen the clown?
Have you seen the dancers leap without a single care?
Have you seen the gymnasts balance high up in the air?
Have you seen the juggler toss knives both up and down?
Hoop-la! Hoop-la! the Rovers are in town!

Hey, there! Hoop-la! We're the Rovers troupe!
Hear musicians and singers performing in a group.
See the half-tamed ogre with the green and orange fan,
The beardless dwarven maiden and the half-orc half-man.
See the friendly elf shooting targets through a hoop.
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! We're the Rovers troupe!

and then the version sung by those who are not as happy to see the Black Butterfly Rovers :D

Danger! Danger! the Rovers are in town!
Have you seen my money pouch that I just put down?
Have you seen my amulet, my pendant or my ring?
Have you seen the troubles, that the Rovers with them bring?
Have you seen anything that was not nailed down?
Danger! Danger! the Rovers are in town!

If you don't know the original ... it was The Circus by CJ Dennis ... a song I remember from my time at school ... we must have been learning about the circus at the time ... so I'd guess Year 2 or Year 3 or maybe Year 4 which puts it ... far too long ago for my liking :D

Thank you as well, Alysse.

Here's another song that I came up with (allowing me to become a primary school teacher ... and then getting me to take music lessons was not a good idea ... Education QLD has a lot to answer for ... me shakes fist angrily) ... it is to the tune of "I've got a car", I'd be very surprised if many/any of you would know it ... but it really is a nonsense song, fun and lively ... the real version of it has actions, and in time, the chorus of it is simply a set of actions without the words ... it is a cummulative song.

Edit: I have now included the Bard's suggestions, (thanks Judith) corrected a minor spelling mistake on my part ... opened the challenge to others to fill in another couple of verses :D ... updates in orange

I've got a Wain

Verse 1
I've got a wain that's made of wood,
Canvas, leather, it's all good,
Got four wheels and pulled by a horse,
It's a Kolbruk wain of course.

Chorus
Bump Bump, rattle rattle, woah, crash, neigh neigh
Bump Bump, rattle rattle, woah, crash, neigh neigh
Bump Bump, rattle rattle, woah, crash, neigh neigh
Bump Bump

Verse 2
Drive my wain along the roads,
Look out all ye frogs and toads,
Here it comes with might an' force,
It's a Kolbruk wain of course!

Chorus
(leave out neigh neigh - but do actions)

Verse 3
Took my Salli to the fair,
Hit every rut on the way down there,
When we parked the wain, by dam,
All her berries turned to jam!

Chorus
(leave out woah crash neigh neigh - but do actions)

Verse 4
Maybe a verse about the Brownie Wain?

Chorus
(leave out rattle rattle, woah crash neigh neigh - but do actions)

Verse 5
Maybe a city based one carrying an important personage of some kind?

Chorus
(actions only - no words)

Repeat Verse 1
Chorus
(Faster - Words and actions)

Actions
Bump - hit open palm with fist
Rattle - shake hands
Woah - pull back as though trying to stop the horse
Crash - open palm squashed against nose
Neigh - pull ear

=================================

The original ... I've got a car
I've got a car that's made of tin
Nobody knows what shape it's in
Got four wheels and a running board
It's a four door, it's a Ford!

Honk Honk, rattle rattle, toot, crash, beep beep
Honk Honk, rattle rattle, toot, crash, beep beep
Honk Honk, rattle rattle, toot, crash, beep beep
Honk Honk

Actions
Honk - squeeze bulb (invisible)
Rattle - shake hand
Toot - push nose with index finger
crash - open palm squashed against nose
beep - pull ear

(snickers)   I don't know the original, but they are both hilarious!   One minor nit to pick: 'tarp' is too contemporary - how about

"I've got a wain that's made of wood / An'  the canvas keeps me dry quite good"  (winces at the grammar)  OR
"I've got a wain that's made of wood / Canvas, leather, it's all good" which leads more naturally into the 'got four wheels' as well!

And can we not have another verse or so?  You can't sing that chorus just once!

Drive my wain along the roads,
Look out all ye frogs and toads,
Here it comes with might an' force,
It's a Kulbruk wain of course!

Took my Salli to the fair,
Hit every rut on the way down there,
When we parked the wain, by dam,
All her berries turned to jam!

:)

I love these Dek!  I can just imagine myself singing them as a small child (or a hyper possibly drunken student, whichever).  + aura!

For the Brownie Wain verse?:

I've got a wain that's pulled by rats,
Driv'n by Brownies and chased by cats,
Six good neeps and four round buns,
We'll be fed 'til springtime comes!

Oh!  This is fun, thought up another:

Draped in brilliant spilken cloth,
Liv'ried driver on the roof,
Twenty footmen just to shout
"Get out the way you layabout!"

I don't know about that one so much *shrug*

@ Deklitch:

Dek, if you're going to casually drop bardic challenges into your posts, expect them to be picked up:  here's your verse 5...

In his wunnerful one-hoss wain,
Comes the ancient Kolbruk thane,
Both er sixty years, they say,
Wish they'd crack a mainspring stay!

@ Rookie:

The Brownie one is hilarious!  The problem with the second is that it's not self-contained but appears to refer to a previous wain.
I might see if I can work with that, if you don't mind...

So, stealing shamelessly from Rookie:

Here's a noble, high and grand,
Gots a wain ta beat the band,
Draped in brilliant spilk-o-gold,
Surely catch his death of cold!

OR

Here's a noble's spilk-draped wain,
Liv'ried driver - what a pain!
Twenty footmen just to shout,
'Clear the way, you layabout!'

Yes!  Your versions make more sense Judy :)  I like the first one better - I can imagine a child doing the actions and strutting around like a "noble high and grand".

Hi, dear Arti and other developers!

This year I am in China and cannot use any Google services including YouTube. For this reason I stopped uploading new Nepris videos. I can also not read any comments there.

It just crossed my mind that this information might be useful to you.

Cheers
