Just a short note on this one: Though the text is up already for quite a while, I will be updating the text at some point within the next weeks/months.
Whenever I get some space I'm currently fixing/adjusting/adding/improving things here and there in the course of time, though I'm not pushing it. I have the feeling the text just longs for updates at certain passages. This is nothing major that changes the general thing that this text is, but I think in works like these there's always room to get it more straight to the point which it implicitly tries to convey. Will take some time and I won't really explicitly mark the updates or something, though there will be quite a bunch. It's basically my own concern to make things more perfect, at least in the way I intend it to.
P.S. Should there still be questions concerning what the text is all about, don't hesitate to ask. Maybe the text was less obvious than I thought it is, which on the other hand is partly intentional as well
P.P.S. Long, long down the lane there might be a part II of this. Well, in a way. At least I have some rough ideas. But that's way too early right now.

Very nice, Arti. I remember reading this tale and it was quite unique! A real mindbender, for sure. Reminded me of Alice in Wonderland...but without the cute rabbit and smiley cat!

No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith. And that, I fear, for any reasoning, conscious being, would be the cruelest trick of all.

It's time for the promised definitive version of "The Journey".
Luckily I could finish the revision in the last months/weeks, and am now somewhat happy with the result. So time to update the version on the site. Here you go:
"The Journey"
by Monsonius (29 pages)
At the moment only the downloadable Word file is on site, the site's version will be updated by next update as well, and Vladpetus' "Fate Takes Your Hand" theme (extro of "Uninvited") will be added as the musical theme of "The Journey". It was this piece and Judy's Monsonius picture that inspired the tale and set the mood, so I think they should all be there with the tale.
Basically it's the same story, nothing dramatic has changed, so don't expect any great revelation at the end or something. However, parts of it should be quite improved in terms of style (at least I hope so), some nuances, cross-references, ambiguities etc. were added. Some parts were changed dramatically, here and there passages were also cut due to better pacing (which is not entirely unimportant at lengthy journies...). Even small nuances at key points I think add to the general experience, so you might discover those if you re-read the story and try to re-interpret it. Personally I've found several new ways to look at parts of the text upon rewriting, so I hope that those who read it also get something out of it.
Quite obvious for example is the new splitting into sections/chapters. Of course there's also a hidden message in that if you put all the chapter titles together and read it at the right place and time with the right mind.
Just wanted to mention that little detail.
Anyway, Azhira said in her first statement that the story reminds her of the "Twilight Zone". And having just recently finally discovered the wonderful short stories of this legendary TV series, I have to agree, it all takes place right there.
So let me finish with the proper introduction:
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

Welcome (again) to "The Journey" - if you still find your cane!
