She was only visiting one stall at the market? Don't think so...

The next stall she came to on her market route
Was a merchant who showed her his tropical fruit
So long, fresh and juicy, and laid out oblique,
That she couldn’t help saying “please, just like last week”

Oh, and some music: We heard what she said

All open to comments and suggestions, as usual.

@ Judy:   *Blinks innocently* Who, me? I can assure you, dear MasterBard, that if I were to wave anything in your direction it would most definately not be a Master-baitory flag.   AURA +1

On second thoughts, though, if you were to provide me with more verses in a similar...... erm.....'vein', perhaps I could be persuaded.

BTW, I have taken the liberty of slightly altering the last line of your 'Sailor on the wharf' verse. I hope you don't mind? I can change it back if you prefer?

@ Gean: An excellent addition to the song, my friend. Integrated gratefully. As for your music, I prostrate myself before your genius, Sir!  AURA +1

@ Arti: can we include Gean's tune with this song when it is added to Septimus' Songbook?

And if that doesn't work, try switching it off and back on again.

Barbarians, the lot of you... You allow a lady to walk all the way home without company?

Back on her way home she passed through a field,
And met a wood-cutter, along with his yield.
And her home's hearth was cold and filled with soot,
So she spoke to the 'jack; "Please give me your wood."

We heard what she said, etc etc..

 shocked

Miraran Tehuriden, go and wash your mouth out with soap, forthwith!

*Chuckles* Nice one, Mira! I knew I could rely on you when the chips were down.

Integrated and AURA +1

I have also slightly altered the 3rd line of your verse. I hope you don't mind?

*Wallks away, hands held up*

I never touched him! I swear to the Gods

And fyi, Mira. If it does hurt, maybe you should take your gardening gloves off?

Glad you liked the you-know-what, btw. I reserve those for special friends!  ;)

I've just re-discovered a certain froggy-type creature with a rather remarkable ability. Do you remember him?

Although I'm really no good at such things ... here's an attempt. If it is bad ... assume that Sordoc wrote it :)

She travelled to Ciosa, and went to the docks,
There she spotted a sailor fishing from the rocks,
She looked at him and then gazed out to sea,
And said, "Won't you please cast your nets with me?”

We heard what she said, etc etc..

My contibution.   rolleyes

Naydreen had a suitor who who'd come by to play
Sometimes he'd be there, at all times of day
But when she found out that he was an elf
She told him "I'm sorry, I'll play with myself."

Done with pleasure. ;)

It seems this song will become quite lengthy, with all these fresh additions made...

@ Dek and Alt: Many thanks, Gentlemen. Both integrated and AURA +1 for you pair of you.

I have made a slight alteration to your verse, Dek. Do you approve?

Would Sordoc deign to lower himself to lasciviousness, Dek?
Perhaps his talents are insufficient to create such complex, veiled humour?

I'll add mentions of Alt and Dek to Septimus' letter later today. For now, it is tea-time and my belly cries out for attention.

Seeing as how this is turning into (a) a lengthy entry and (b) a group effort, I may remove all the choruses bar the first one, inserting "Chorus:" where neccessary. I'd also appreciate it, Arti, if you could credit this as a group entry when it makes it into the Library.

"The Great"

Sordoc the Great will not dignify such wanton disregard for the poor individual so poorly described in this 'song'. Sordoc the Great would rather spend his time gazing fondly (but totally non romantically) at the Great Paxen that populate the northern regions of Sarvonia.

However, as Master Tharoc is clearly a Sordoc the Great fan, Sordoc the Great will attempt to lower his great standards to meet the challenge thus presented.

She travelled up north with Sordoc the Great,
To join him in watching the great paxen mate,
And she said to Sordoc as the paxen went beyond count,
"Do you think that there's a paxen I could use as a mount?"

I need no credit, my friend.  This is your baby, as far as I'm concerned.  My contribution is no more than if it were any entry and I saw something that might be valuable to add.

Alt, shut up and sit down, you big lummox.   ;)

Sordoc, much as it pains me to say it, I found your contribution to this little party most acceptable, ot to mention chucklesome. Please find a nice, shiny AURA +1 in your post box.

On a slightly more serious note, Tharoc would probably be quite appreciative of Sordoc's poetry, not so much because of the wordplay, but more for the interpretive dances which accompany it.
The orc race do not, in general, have a written history (save that which is recorded by Compendiumists). They keep their heritage/ancestry (call it what you will) alive in the form of Story tellers (a proper name has yet to be described). Due to their lack of vocabulary, much orcen language is expressed in body language and facial expressions. When a Story teller is in full flow, his actions resemble a primitive form of dance which could, to the untrained eye, be confused with the interpretive dances of Sordoc.
Therefore, orcs have the ability to 'read' a story told through movements and would be a good audience for his....erm.....talents.

Perhaps we should send him North to test this theory?

It has been hacked. The third time in 3 days. I need to replace the changed files again (won't happen before evening) - and then see what the SMF support recommends as a strategy.
