Could any of the numerous Race experts please take a quick look at my Orcpox entry in the Misc Forum, please?

I need to know if you think any particular race would/should be immune, either partially or totally, from the effects. And I'll be wanting a full explanation too, so think on!

Thankee in advance.  grin

If you need a test subject for your disease, I'm more than happy to offer Sordoc the Ingrate.

Antislar halforcs ( a signifigant subpopulation of the Antislar people, but are not considered a tribe unto themselves) can get Orcpox in a non lethal form, like cowpox is to smallpox.

Hhhmmm. Is this a done deal, or just a suggestion?

Why is it non-lethal? Is it just them who are semi-immune?

Just a suggestion.  It is your disease, afterall.  I'll live with what you want to do with it. :)

Do we HAVE dwarves in the far north?    This might be a good chance to write them up....

My initial thoughts would be that since dwarven clans are notoriously reclusive (save for the Ximaxian area ones) it's difficult for any infection to jump racial boundaries.  However, that would seem to suggest that a really bad one that DID get over would wreak havoc.    Hmmmm...

Perhaps it would be interesting to detail such an event, when a human trader in the very early stages of the disease brought the orcpox to a dwarven trading post in XXX.... how it spread through the clan like wildlava....how it affected the dwarven bodies (which after all turn to stone as they die and have some serious incompatibilities with humans).... how the half of the clan who survived were left with shorter, distorted bodies, with swarthier skin and stronger teeth which they passed on to their descendants.....  with a lasting prejudice against the race of orcs (despite their non-involvement and the human infection vector!).....

The Kurakim entry says there are three dwarven tribes in the North...but the North Tribes Overview lists two. Is the third tribe the rumored "Dark Dwarves"? If anything, the Dark Dwarves would fit this origin myth quite nicely. It gives them a reason for the other dwarves to distance themselves from them. Maybe the Dark Dwarves could find a home in the Gathorn Mountains?

No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith. And that, I fear, for any reasoning, conscious being, would be the cruelest trick of all.

I know that somewhere it mentions three dwarf tribes in North Sarvonia ... the Kurikim, the Susilgerim and another tribe.

On the North Sarvonian overview it just mentions:
Quote
The Black Dwarves
The final group of dwarves of the Sarvonian North are the mysterious Black Dwarves. They are also known as the Delvers. It was they who built the Deep Winds Portal and dug the labyrinths under it, at the dark elves' command.

On the dwarf overview it talks about:
Quote
THE  MORGERIM ("DARK DWARVES")
A separate clan, although some claim a separate race, since their physical characteristics and culture vary so significantly from the rest of the Thergerim. However, the Morgerim are indeed dwarves, albeit reclusive (and that's reclusive even from a dwarven point of view!) Currently not much is known about them, but historians are working to remedy this lack of information.

Would these be one and the same?

Isn't it amazing how something can grow from pretty much nothing in these lands?

I create a small entry about a disease and within minutes it's inspired all these wonderful ideas and important historical musings!

I love this place.

Thank you all, gentlemen.  I KNEW we had an unwritten tribe out there somewhere.  Yes, that all fits together - the dark delving Mor-dwarves, reclusive and physically different...

I'm fairly certain I took a hands-off approach because someone else was interested in developing them.  Whether it was a bungee newbie (in, enthusiastic, out again) or an old member who is no longer here I do not remember.  Will have to do a bit of forum necromancy and see if they are up for dev-grabs...
