Never hurts to train your orcish vocabulary, so that you're prepared for possible exams...

Just a reminder that this needs to be integrated

M'ruk, be sure to integrate the vocabulary from my Caaehl Mountains entry. I have some new ones in there.

Azhira, you say in the entry that the word for rock is 'Inuk', but there is already a word for stone or rock; Ph'ragh. I could make them both mean rock, but I thought we were going to avoid synonyms.
Finished integrating the rest.

One is a rock tribe, whereas the other is used in the ballista entry and a story in the library. I'm not sure it would work in either, as the tribe is so called (I think) because it is located in the mountains.

Quote
Yrr’la’h’rok = (lit) milk of horse. An alcoholic drink made from fermented mare's milk.
Perhaps
yrr'la'
would mean something like "milk"? Or possibly "milk of", but if I remember correctly, Kh'omchr'om is partially signed, so maybe that's one of the things that could be distinguished by signing.

How about "rock" and "stone", or some other distinction that isn't found in English? And why avoid synonyms?

Good suggestion, I'll add Yrr'la as milk and Rok as horse,
We're trying to avoid synonyms because Kh'omchr'om is a very simple and rudimentary language based on battle commands, so having different words for the same thing might confuse orcs.
Well, I suppose Inuk could be rock and Ph'ragh stone, but again, as Kh'omchr'om is meant to be very simple, and rock and stone are very similar (in fact, I couldn't really say what the difference is) that would almost be a distinction without a difference.
Just so Azhira doesn't have to change her entry and the ballista and story can be kept the way they are, I'll change Inuk to rock and Ph'ragh to stone.

Actually, it seems "horse" is already present in the Kh'omchr'om-to-English list as
h'rok
.

Languages being "simple and rudimentary" is not usually very realistic though. And you also seem to suggest that orcs aren't very intelligent, which I remember being told was not true. I suppose things could have changed while I was away. But in any case, I can see how a Santharian observer might think so, especially if some important differences in meaning are expressed through signing.
Then again, I vaguely remember reading once that Kh'omchr'om was a pidgin used for inter-tribal communication. If that's the case, it would make sense if it were quite simple and not have synonyms. But it would also probably not have much of a vocabulary outside of the topic it is used to discuss (in real life, usually trade, but things might be different in this case).

If the different orc tribes had somewhat different dialects, then words could be different. The Osther-Oc are a tribe somewhat removed from the other orcen tribes of the North and share history with both humans and dark elves. Likely, the Osther have some different words. I agree with Mina, definitely.
I took the name "Inuk" as the specific clan of Other-Oc that live in the Caaehl name themselves after stone/rock because of their mountain home. I think it is ok to differentiate between words of Osther dialect and other orcs. What M'ruk developed is a starting point, not the end product.
