The Helmondsshire Halflings Coat of Arms
«

Greetings from China. Decided to stop by the website for a quick look around, ended up spending some more time making this. Thoughts so far? (to be completed in 3d later)
The Helmondsshire Hobbits have one of the oldest symbols, dating back to the Age of Myths. The shield is round, reflecting peace, and inside is a single vine with gentle green leaves. This coat of arms is centered on their love of gardening and the earth. They are, of course, “Green-People”.
The coat of arms was re-done after the destruction of the shire after the War for Ancyros, but retains the circular shape, but instead of a vine, the symbol of two green leaves. Almost all of the other hobbit coat of arms use the leaves in their symbol.

I like it! Clean and suitable, like Alt said.

I like it too, it will make a good symbol to put on a house or just use in some other way. Will the background be white or yellow?

I like it as well ... almost looks like the head of one of those 'little green men'

@Sparkle: if the coat of arms is anything like the others on the site, it will be shaped to look a litle more three dimensional, and that white bit will actually be transparent, so all we see is the shield.
That said, it looks brilliant. It reminds me of the door on a hobit hole. I could see them putting the little leaves on their doorknobs.

Yes, as Valan said, the coat of arms will just be the circle. The background will be transparent and the finished work will be 3d. This is just the 2d design.
Thanks for the input guys
, but don't be afraid to criticize. If there is anything I could possibly change or do to make it better, please say.

Just a suggestion, but perhaps the leaves are those of pipeweed?

Ohh pretty! Nice work, Finnael! Welcome back to the Dream. I don't think many of us remember you, save Arti and Bard. Another artist is always welcome around here.
An

Thanks for the Aura Azhira
Pipeweed, it seems, is more deeply rooted in Gnomish culture than Halflings. Reading up in the compendium it doesn't mention halflings within the entry, nor pipeweed within the halflings entries (even though most of us know in Tolkien's world that the hobbits loved it). Does anyone have any opinions or knowledge of this topic? (Is Rayne still around these parts?)

Yep, you also get an
aura +1
from here, Finnael!
Very nice coat of arms, very fitting to the hobbits, maybe the whole things can get another shine filter on top if it represents a shield of some sort, but the realization is very nice the way it is! Definitely the perfect way to come out of the shadows from your hideout in the past years, hope there's a chance to get some more where this came from...
P.S. Speaking about coat of arms - I should check what Rakshiri (=Koldar to the old-bies like Finnael) is doing, as he made that cool coat of arms generator at the beginning of the year. He wanted to make some more improvements on it, and maybe he got to that stuff in the meantime, cause this generator should be very useful for us to get some more done in this area. I'll add checking on Rakshiri's progress to my priority list!

Interestingly pipeweed is indeed pretty much described as gnome thing rather than a halfling one... We put a hobbit picture in the entry because we had that, but the entry doesn't mention hobbits at all. Very strange.
Rayne still exists, we even put an entry of her up last update, but she has a habit of showing up for some weeks, working on dozens of entries at the same time and then disappearing again suddenly for several months. Difficult to get a hold on her and get things finished that way. But yup, she's still somewhere out there and hasn't forgotten about us!

That sounds great! I would definitely be interested in seeing this generator of Koldar's. As well, do you know which program he used/uses for his "3d-ification" of designs?

I would, in place of other hobbit developers, note that hobbits wouldn't be the sort to use shields much in any case, so perhaps it could be a design on things like doors and windows? At least in the present day.
I'm not sure which program you're using Finnael, but I think I might know what Koldar did. Or at least it might achieve a similar effect.

I agree, Valan. I thought the same thing, just forgot to poke my nose in. Shield CoA just seems unhobbity.
