I completely agree. A crest or a flag maybe?

Sounds like an interesting idea and challenge to place the whole thing on wood, as in a round hobbit door with a copy into each other feature or something similar in Photoshop. That would provide the final hobbitish touch :) - That something you could try, Finnael?

As for Koldar's project: He made some more progress in the meantime as I've seen (see here). Note the scrollbar at the bottom of the row from which you can select your coat of arms pieces - guess that's one of the new features if I remember correctly. And a few other minor things were made as mentioned on the page. Also a lot more shields were generated in the meantime, quite an impressive gallery there to look at now :D - Further motives one could use wouldn't hurt, though...

Yeah, the coat of arms generator is coming along nicely!

More of a crest, to be worn on clothing, can be placed onto doors, hang from necklaces, etc.

Thoughts? (Note: there are still a number of things to be done with this, it's just the idea i'm asking. i still have to change the middle pieces and the texture of everything to look not so weird)

Oooh I like that.  I could see that being part of necklace for sure.  Very nice.

Great to have other artists around.  thumbup

Looks pretty fine to me as well, Finnael - you need to put it at something though to have a context for it - as you mentioned, a necklace, a door, could connect a cape at the neck part, something like this!  thumbup

Well, I'm back now (for at least a little bit  buck). I was picked up for a job back in September a job and was on set 10-14 hours per day for the past 3 months... haha it's good to be rested again.

Here is an update to the crest. I've done it as a necklace. I will see what I can do to have it as a brooch for a cloak, or something along those lines.

Good to hear from you again, Finnael - we should work on the three months interval, though... ;)

Anyway, I guess we could as well add this coat of arms/necklace as a resource as it is now (as I assume drawing a hobbit isn't your forte, Jon). But whenever one of our artists gets to drawing a hobbit, we could use this piece. It's saved in TIF format, so it is on a transparent alpha channel already and can be grabbed directly and pasted on any picture with ease. And a closeup of the picture showing this coat of arms could then be used in the Helmondshire entry.  grin

Files have been replaced again, but the question remains how long this will last. SMF support will have a look at the security problem.

It has been hacked. The third time in 3 days. I need to replace the changed files again (won't happen before evening) - and then see what the SMF support recommends as a strategy.

Arti, could you maybe take a look at the RPG board? I got a message from my anti-virus program and now I can't access the column on the right with the list of current threads and the shoutbox. Thankies :)
