Hello, developers. I've been reading this site for several years, with fair regularity, and, like most of you, got the idea; "Why, I should help the developers!" or some variation of the story.

I'm particularly enamoured of the gnomes and dwarves. However, I've never been further than 50km from an ocean in my life... so, rather than try to add something I know little about, I offer my knowledge of nauticalness. Boats, fishing techniques, sea life, etc. I can probably help with that.

Judging by the question of 'Are you serious about joining the development board' during registration, I assume that you've had trouble with people coming and then disappearing, so I will say this now... If I stay, I will inevitably duck out for small periods of time. My school, work and three ensembles sometimes conspire to murder my free time, but I will try to duck in to, at least, let you know I didn't abandon you.

Now, with that off my chest, I should introduce myself: I am Kaerwyn Hod, and I like fish!

Greetings, my dear Kaerwyn!  (dips a quick curtsey and smiles broadly)

Welcome to the Compendium, vast repository of knowledge, intellect, good food, and terrible jokes.   We are always pleased to accept another apprentice into the ranks of our dedicated researchers, and one who is already familiar with our wondrous world is a delightful bonus.

Let me just offer you these fresh waterberry tarts to get you warmed up and then we'll find quarters for you.

When I say quarters, that is, I mean a study carrell, a cell in the dormusarium (but you do get your very own cot and bedding and privacy!  The door even locks!) and access to the main bathhouses.   The kitchens are always open, but I wouldn't advise wandering through the attached gardens and especially not the greenhouses on your own.  Other things get hungry besides young researchers...

Er, do have another tart.  Oh, dear, did I even introduce myself?   I'm Judith, Masterbard of Bardavos (originally) but I dabble in a number of Compendium areas, including diplomatic relationships with our Thergerim friends, so if you do wish to work with dwarven material we'll be seeing more of each other!   And I love fish too, as long as it's in a good sauce, preferably garleek and milchbutter...

Welcome to the Dream, Kaerwyn! wave

Great to hear that you know the site already for quite a while, it always helps :) BTW: The "Are you serious about joining the development board?" thingy is just one of the questions mainly directed to spammers, who enjoy abusing the board (like the other, not particularly easy questions if you don't know the site at all). On the other hand it's true that the real-life monsters like school and work have a tendency to eat development time... But that's just something we all have to cope with, and somehow we always manage to handle it.

At any rate: I hope you find your niche here with us where you can help to out - gnomes and dwarves sounds like a great idea to expand on, and with Judy you've already met the one in charge for all things dwarven :) And as for gnomes: They've been a bit neglected for a while now, so we could use some updates there as well.

So welcome on board, Kaerwyn, looking forward to working with you!  cool

Welcome, Kaerwyn!
good to see someone interested in such a range of different topics- the dwarves and gnomes are fascinating in their own right, but personally I've a soft spot for slimy things that live in the sea, so if you're interested in anything of that kind I'd be fascinated to see it. either way, I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I think I'll fish around the site and find something Gnomish that doesn't have an entry, something simple, for a start. Probably I will focus on them, but I will definitely contribute to something nautical in nature, eventually.

Welcome Kaerwyn!

I'm Agran, the professional apprentice. If you need anything stronger then a tart, ask me and I'll see if I can't get a flask or two...

*Seems to notice that there are members here*

My friends! You don't mind if I pinch a tart do you? I brought along some Stonetack for our newest friend!

Agran, feel free - but not too free.  If you pinch a tart too hard, you might get slapped...

(ducks the resulting barrage of dirty looks and grins unrepentantly)
