The Moh-Sys race is a teeny tiny entry under the Mythology section that needs a revision.

And I volunteer myself to do the re-write as I am writer of all things dark and nasty!

I propose integrating the Moh-Sys race and creating an entry about the Shades of Cort'Mangar. The race is obviously mythical/supernatural with very little proof and study, but perhaps I can come up with some interesting tidbits using Marvan Swiftrook's journals, as well as writings of Kha'mal and my intrepid elven explorer Saryas Kelweather (readers of my entries should be very familiar with these famous Northern scholars/explorers)

From the Shadespell Gorge entry:

Quote
People. The only people thought to live along the gorge are not true people at all. Most accounts who have beheld the city of Cort’Mangar, such as the Erpheronian explorer Marvan Swiftrook in 1000 a.S., say that the ruins are the haunt of strange shadow beings. These shadow people he called “The People of the Shades” or simply “The Shades”. The orcen people call them the “Hav’ak Lohks” or “Faces of Night”. Swiftrook’s journal was later found 200 years after his death among some ruins in the Mists of Osthemangar. He dedicated several pages to eyewitness accounts of Cort’Mangar. Most were barely sensible ramblings as many scholars believe that he was slowly driven mad by all the time he spent around such blighted places.

No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith. And that, I fear, for any reasoning, conscious being, would be the cruelest trick of all.

Yep, would be happy if you'd take on that challenge, Azhira! They sound pretty creepy and quite fascinating therefore to have up north in our darker regions!  Time to give them a proper entry! grin thumbup

Just a random thought, but I was reading through the Moh-Sys entry (if it can even be called that; very short!) and it was VERY reminiscent, for me, of the Driders of Toril, and the Drow society of Menzoberranzan made famous by R.A. Salvatore's Legend of Drizzt. Just a thought, that could be a source of inspiration for you Azhira!

I have no doubt that the inspiration for that original "entry" came from D&D's driders. However, I am revising the race in an entirely new direction.

Yeah, some entries (or concepts of short-time contributers) sometimes are heavily inspired by other fantasy worlds, which we try to avoid whenever possible. So making it "our own" as much as possible is the way to deal with these entries!  cool

Oh, and here I thought it came from the Toy Story movie.

Haha seeing the quote in your signature, I guess you know all about Drizzt. :p

A new direction sounds good to me!

Files have been replaced again, but the question remains how long this will last. SMF support will have a look at the security problem.

It has been hacked. The third time in 3 days. I need to replace the changed files again (won't happen before evening) - and then see what the SMF support recommends as a strategy.

Arti, could you maybe take a look at the RPG board? I got a message from my anti-virus program and now I can't access the column on the right with the list of current threads and the shoutbox. Thankies :)
