Thought I'll make a new thread for this one, as it's something that isn't really a program extension of the main program.

We (Grinch & I) are starting to make slow first steps towards a serious release of a Santhworld editor, which means: Full game developing capabilities for everyone who'd like to dabble around with the editor and has a PC. No Flash knowledge is necessary to program a game - though you can spice it up if you know it. Of course you need to understand some basic logic in order to handle items, set status (e.g. button pressed), which you check later on (is the button pressed?) etc. Santhworld uses its own script language (nicknamed "Peter Interpreter"), which can be learned with a little effort. Editor will work completely offline and you can test things rather easily by walking through your module as you add stuff. Online it will work only on the Santharian main site.

There are a lot of questions still open, but I'm working now on a few features which make my own life easier and later for possible developers as well.

It will still be a while till we have it readily available, but this is one of the things that need to be done, because in the hands of creative people this is a really powerful tool, so getting it done is essential. Also, Grinch would like to try his hand on working on a module of his own as well, and to do that we need to prepare it somehow for a multiuser environment. So we're working on that when we have time these days. Just to let you know.

Editor will work completely offline

Ha, who wants to be offline?

Thanks for that possibility, though I prefer to test finished modules...

I'm looking forward to new ones.. what about the next Nepris?

Well, you don't need a server lag if you develop, you don't need to upload anything anywhere - so for developing that's definitely a plus...

Nepris III is not in sight right now, not even planned. Priority has Seeker's Treasure Shoals, then the Editor.

I'd love to be able to get my hands on something like this. Eagerly awaiting the chance to play with a santhworld editor.

Working on the juicy stuff now at the Editor, making it finally possible to use it without having to refer to pre-compiled Flash pictures... A though thing, but well worth it. Lots of testing necessary for that, but major progress is made now :)

@Valan: Feel free to plot what you'd like to try with a tool like that. Once released I'll make sure to post lots of step-by-step tutorials, so that people can let their fantasies run wild with it...

Okeydokey... Major progress has been made in terms of the Editor, so I officially conclude the work on it from my side for these vacations :) There's more ahead of course as we also try to get more organization in the various folders before the Editor will be released, but the Editor is now prepared to handle multiple users and can efficiently import/export databases. Will post some images on Facebook next week to give a general idea.

P.S. The Editor thread and the Treasure Shoals thread can now also be accessed from the left Masterplans/Projects menu.

Screenshots of the Santhworld Game Designer are now available on Facebook, see here. Should also be visible for non-Facebookers methinks. While you don't see a lot of what's going on behind the scenes of the Editor, you can get at least an idea what it is capable of by now by browsing through the forms. Hope the one or the other is inspired by what's brewing :)

Once again considerable progress have been made on the Santhworld Editor front, which - you might have guessed it - is no easy feat. Slowly but surely there's some light on the other end of the tunnel, but it is important to work very carefully here, there are many things that need to be considered and a lot has to be changed for various purposes. Progress has been very satisfying in the past weeks though, but there's always more to do to get things right.
