Ok, so this is an idea I have been bouncing around with Rayne now for about a week.

Basically the gist is this. The Black Flame is a secret order based out of Cyrstalwoods. Their sole intent is to bring around the age of Coor and awake Ava from her slumber. After the first SW the order was founded and gifted the black flame by Coor.

The flame is a tool use to judge potential members on their pure devotion to Coor. The flame feeds off the darkness in their hearts.

Still hammering out the details but that it's the quick run down on the entry. I will be describing the orders history, rituals, structure etc.

Just wanted to grab a few more knowledgeable opinions on the entry.

Thanks for your times and its great to be back.

Perhaps this can help your inspiration Navar.  grin

I of course think this is a great idea.

Hello and welcome back, Navar! wave

Last post in 2009... Geez, that was quite a bit of a break you had there, eh? Anyway, sounds all like a nice idea to get back into things, especially as Seeker already has the perfect picture for you right at hand, ready to be used for your secret order. So yup, I'd say: Go for it!  cool

Awesome :)

And yeah it has been awhile, but you know as way leads on to way. I held Santharia for another day (little bit of Frost for ya :) ) Well life has settled and out looks like its staying that way for awhile :)

So I'll be bouncing between here and the RP boards (Isoto), I will post once I have a rough draft.

P.S. Seeker, that picture is perfect totally using it, thanks :)

If you get a chance play the Treasure Shoeals Santhworld game.  You will get a glimpse of some more black fire in the game.  Some other images you see in the game could also be used.

Coor and Ava aren't considered something to create an age, or ritual around. They are more "ideals" than actual gods whose agendas are to be pushed forward. At least that is the thinking in current times. Ava and Coor are more dark and light from which other things were born. Essentially "over gods" but not really gods.

No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith. And that, I fear, for any reasoning, conscious being, would be the cruelest trick of all.

Actually Coor is the embodiment of Ava on the physical plane (Ava existing in the spiritual plane) and every so often Coor manifests in an attempt to turn the dream evil and extinguish all life. This entry will perfectly fit into that mythos.

Almost. Ava is, in essence, the creator--but One who has no control over Her Dream. She dreams and it becomes reality to those who inhabit the Dream. Elves worship Ava, but they do not ask her aid because She essentially has no control. She is purely a figure to be worshipped, admired, loved, respected, and sometimes even pitied.

Coor, on the other hand, does have some agency in Ava's Dream. Coor is Ava's dark reflection--shadow to her light--and has the ability to effect change within the Dream (as demonstrated in the Fall of Fa'av'ca'lar). So praying to Coor may actually yield something--and, in fact, some elves DID turn to the worship of Coor during and after the Fall. We know these elves today as Dark Elves.

Coor doesn't want to turn the Dream evil, but I would feel relatively comfortable saying that he does want to end it. He doesn't just want to end life; he wants to end everything. Ava suffers as She Dreams; ending the Dream ends Ava's suffering. Good and Evil are terms laden with opinion and obfuscation. Coor is not essentially evil; he acts in the interest of Ava. Can he really be called evil at all?

Of course, all this needs verification from the true expert: Artimidor.  ;)

The spirit of Coór errupts periodically from the depths of doom to strike Aér'aí'chán with unbelieveable force in order to turn the Dream of the High Goddess once and for all to evil,

This is a snippet directly from the Coor entry. I may be misinterpreting it. But to me Coor is corruption. And Ava being blessed. Coor seeks to corrupt the blessed which can be seen as turning the dream into a nightmare ending the dream (thus everything)

Well, it's a bit of an academical question, as it all depends on what perspective you take.

From the perspective of human beings e.g. seeing the rallying of forces which will destroy their lives, this is clearly something evil, evil incarnate. Coór is the thirteenth God in that sense, the counter-god, he, who wants to destroy everything the others build. He is usually not talked about by humans, but he's a God among gods. In human terms he wants power and reign the world.

For the elves Coór is a cosmological principle, the manifestation of Avá. As such he is directly connected to Avá, as he literally is Avá - Avá exists through Coór. "Evil" he does if you so want is only a means to an end. An elf would see the cosmological necessity he represents, and the periodically erupting fights against evil forces which follow a Coór agenda is something that is natural to them. Now what Coór actually wants could be seen as a theological question, even by the elves, because nobody really knows whether Coór wants to reign as Avá's manifestation over the world or whether he is her innermost secret desire to see it end and return to the origin, which She - if you so want - doesn't actually want to admit to Herself. Or, and that's maybe the preferred elven interpretation: There will never be a winner in this eternal fight, as that's the nature of existence.

So all these varying interpretations result in different sects and groups (among them e.g. a couple of dark elven tribes) who of course are all convinced that theological interpretation of the cosmological principles is the correct one. So the Black Flame might be one of those groups.
