Santharia: Quest for the Flitter Twitch Butterfly

Hey guys. Been a while since I visited. So during my three day weekend I decided to make a Choose Your Own Adventure on the CYOCYOA site. It is quite easy to make a story there. Anyhow my hope is it draws some traffic to Santharia. But feel free to check out the story. It is not too complicated and will only take a few minutes to work through to the end.

Hello again, Seeker!

Nice little game you've got there... Good to see the pics reused for a new purpose that is also entertaining... I also exploited a couple of your pics for "The Ring", practically wrote the text around the pics... lol

Anyway, will check out your quest, let's see if I can find that darn butterfly... thumbup

Okeydokey, played through the game, so here a few comments (*@everyone else: spoilers ahead*):

- Note: You can die quickly in a game like this (or let's say: suddenly hit an ending), on the other hand you can use the back button of your browser. So you can always try again instantly. Makes it quite easy to get through...

- Hey, I remember the Nepris swamp geography differently. There must have been some sort of earthquake... lol

And as I progress further I notice there must be a secret connection between Nepris and Salsair!

- If you want to advertise for Santharia you should mention the site URL somewhere prominently. Saw it at the end, though - no HTML-link possible so that you could click on it?

- When you talk to the dwarf, it goes:

"Well what do you want?" he asks in a rude tone.

"Tell you what, if you can capture my crystal spider for me, I'll tell you how to find one of those Flittery butterflies your looking for.....Deal?"

Between these two lines seems to be missing the answer you give, like: "I'm searching for a Flitter Twitch Butterfly."

- When you return to the spider after visiting the dwarf you get a description of the spider, but no text where you actually catch it.

- Bone tree: You are frozen in place almost as if you are forced to stair (--> stare) at this abomination.

- Reading the Book fo Knowledge gets you to the start... Was that intended?

- Wow... Got quite an unexpected ending there. Didn't fin the butterfly, but another super rare creature that his 200 times worth the price of that insect... lol

- Reminds me: Too bad this Flash movie with the zoo was never properly finished (wasn't it... Jonas Tomeskrift who started it?). Quite a pitty, because we've got such a lovely pic!

- Ok, I'm somewhat irritated... I ended up in the hills, have the option to go north and south, and either way is a dead end. I also cannot go back anymore. So apparently a dead end with two options... Not perfectly ideal. Should at least have the "return to the waterfall" option.

- Ah, and there's the butterfly as well - got it

Lovely little game that will at least give people a little taste of Santharia. Found a couple of typos here and there, but nothing glaring (stair/stare is a bit weird). Not bad for a couple of days work I'd say, Seeker! cool

Thanks for playing through. Aura +1 for being the first one.

Ill get in there and fix those typos. My 10 yr old daughter was my editor so I will tell her she missed a few.

So a couple of things. Yes the Book of Knowledge is supposed to return you to the beginning. The idea I was trying to convey is that by sending you to the beginning you have gained a sort of knowledge (because you have some experience) in an unexpected way.

I like your other suggestions, I can easily work those in.

Yes it was a shame that Jonael never finished the zoo animations he was working on. If you find a use for the picture feel free to use it.

I met my end in the cave the first round through. The second time, I brought an even better prize to the zookeeper dude.

Hey Seeker!

I've just stumbled upon somebody playing through the Santhworld module of "Treasure Shoals" and making YouTube videos out of it... See here. Have a look! Feels great to see it all as video and someone reading the texts (plus pics, animations and all the sounds) - reminds me what effort we put into it...

Maybe recording other Santhworld modules might be a promotion idea? In case someone has the opportunity to do so (and a good voice)...

Oh that is really cool. Iv'e been listening to a few of them today and i find it very gratifying to see that someone is enjoying our work. I particularly laugh when she gives her funny commentary on the story as she goes. It is fun to hear someones reaction as they are playing the game. thumbup
