I've mentioned this map to Talia at the RPG board somewhere... Below are rough maps of something on what Koldar started to work on. I don't know if he plans to elaborate the map further or something or what specifically he has in mind with it, but for now it may serve as a firstreference (more elaborated it may be also used at the RPG board e.g. to determine tarvelling routes etc.)

Well, Koldar has zoomed in the map so that the original is now 6818x13958 pixels (!), which is definitely something you can't display here. But here's the map reduced in size for your reference.

Below is a zoomed in Manthria part. I plan to start a more detailed Nepris region map during my vacations and I may use this as reference for that (and perhaps needs some necessary adjustments as well).

So here are the two maps so that you know what I'm speaking about:

Main idea was to make a rough outline of the whole road system to use as a starting point for regional maps. THe roads outlined should serve as connection points of the various regions.

Currently the main problem is size. I zoomed in that far because the squares seen in the second picture represent an area of 100 kilometres in length and width and thus are still not what I'd necessarily consider a closeUp of a region.

I'd continue on elaborating a certain region, however at this point it gets hairy without the help of people who developed the different parts and tribes as their call will heavily influence on where to put a village, a castle, a road. E.g. an elven tribe who is rather aggressive or is strong would cause the humans nearby to build their city farer away and erect castles to protect the lands they claim as they would do towards other human tribes. I also don't have a clue where the elves would most likely build their cities.

I guess as Manthria and Truban already had additional info on the regional level and Arti asked to work somewhere close to it the obvious choice would be Sanguia as the heartland of Santharia would be probably very important (which brings me to my rants concerning the history of that particular place. ;)  )

In that matter, do we have any drafts/info on the Ahrrhim?

Sidenote: New idea concerning the early times. The southern elven tribes could cover a whole continuous territory from the Almtamar down to the Sharadon. It could prove interesting to make this part of Sarvonia really dominantly elven like the north being dominantly human.

The Ahrhim are currently in the making by Wren, see here. But at the moment it's a bit difficult to get a hold of Wren. However, she told me that she plans to finish things like this entry before we start on the history/myth/tribes overhaul for Sarvonia. I hope she has more time soon as she's currently busy with a paper for her studies.

No problem, I need some more time to fight myself out of this mess which people tend to call my life as well.

I've actually come to the conclusion that the southern tribes come from two roots.....This is to do with differences in social organisation. Eastern elves consist of the Ahrhim, Goltherhim, Sanhorrhim and Tethinrhim. Southern elves consist of the Qeaulhoirhim (probably the root of the group), Ylfferhim, Jhehellrhim, and Meaverhim. As for them being one continous kingdom.....hmmm. Don't think so. Elves will not live outside of a forest, and so all that open space between forests makes it difficult for there ever to have been one continous Elven Kingdom.....

No road names yet, but these will also be added as soon as we have the first detailed map done for this part. I've started on a detailed Manthrian map by now, see here, which might be of interest for you, Capher, as you have some Avennorian roots here in Santharia, eh;)

This makes me want to get back into your style of mapping.  Found it time taking, but wow.  What version of Photoshop do you atm?

I use Photoshop 7.0, though I don't really use that many features, which Photoshop 5.0 didn't have already;)  The key is just love for detail I assume, which basically means: spending lots of time with a picture to make everything as unique as possible.

Well the road that goes along the eastern side of the Mithral Mountains has been called the Mithral Route many times and I have used it.  I do not know if this will stay or not but I thought I would mention it.  :)

Thuja,

I think the name should stay.  It is simple, probably named by the dwarves themselves but what would the dwarvish name be I wonder?  Anyway I hope it stays; Mithral Route.

Yup, no problem with that. Final road names can be assigned of course only once we have the definitve map done, so that we then can define the roads. I'll try to get the map done as soon as I can, but this is an enormous project, though.

Files have been replaced again, but the question remains how long this will last. SMF support will have a look at the security problem.

It has been hacked. The third time in 3 days. I need to replace the changed files again (won't happen before evening) - and then see what the SMF support recommends as a strategy.

Arti, could you maybe take a look at the RPG board? I got a message from my anti-virus program and now I can't access the column on the right with the list of current threads and the shoutbox. Thankies :)
