After struggling with Photoshop and my scanner for endless hours, I finally managed to finish this painting. This is my first trial with Photoshop, so I apoligize beforehand for any faults in the scene. In this post I'll include two things: How the painting was done (why you may have trouble with viewing it) and what the scene represents.

The painting consists of four parts:
1) The forest and the deforestated area (the half-grass lands) were painted on canvas using oil paints - the grass with a palette knife

2) the fog was also done on a seperate piece of canvas using oil paints

3) The mountains on another canvas still using oil paints

4) The clouds and the putting together of the paintings with Adobe Photoshop

I explained all this because I was hoping that someone could point out an easier and faster way to do this... took ages to put the four things together and make it seem like one. I don't think i will be able to bare the sound of photoshop in the next few months...*vomits on the mention of another painting*

* What the scene consists of:

This is a painting of the Quallian Forests with the mountains at its back. Most of the forest (where the elves live, also where the Mahood-Euwen trees are located) is covered with fog (the defense of the elves?) Also I tried to portrait the 'Bright Fragments' with the sun shining on the clouds and the mountains (with fragments of rays hitting the tops of some trees and the grass lands)

In fact the forest is much larger than it appears. The only trouble is it looks too much like a postal card (especially the mountains with the fog)... I don't like it when my paintings look as if stolen from somewhere... so this a bit annoys me. (arti, i actually figured out how to do the clouds and did them on my own)

Hopefully our devoted webmaster will post the image up soon,
take care,
coren

Hope you like it Wren :D

I wondered about that too at first. But seeing as he said he can't wait for Arti to upload it, I guess he's got no webspace, so he mailed it to Arti, who will promptly post it in here. Just a matter of time.

Uhmm... to be honest... I can't really see a possibility that the picture works for the site:(    - Sorry to say this, but the parts don't fit together at all if you ask me - I really have quite a problem to see what the picture actually represents on the first glance.

The top and the bottom parts look like photographs to me (and I'm not surprised as we've talked yesterday if it would be allowed to use parts of photos in Santharian paintings), while the central fog/mountains (?) parts look more drawn and show a considerable difference in style, which contradict the other parts of the picture in an extremely irritating way:
