Bard Judith's Quinxo Sketch

Here's something Judy did for the Dalmac entry, but didn't make it into the entry yet as it arrived to late at the Santharian HQ last update. - It's a sketch of the Quinxo Plant as it can be found in one of Dalmac's sketchbooks... It's an absolutely lovely piece, inspired obviously by Talia's Baveras Shrine sketches. I wanted to post here as well before it is integrated on the site, so that this wonderful piece also gets the deserved attention

So here's the picture (already in the size as it will be shown on the site) - click on image to enlarge:

Note: I slighly modified it so that the edges of the paper are a bit irregular and damaged. Also I've added an additional shadow below the paper. Hope that's fine with you, Judy

Thank you so much for putting that up, Artimidor! I can't believe it even made it to the "Breaking News" section... :broadgrin

Just one note though - with no disrespect to Talia's lovely shrine sketches - this was drawn months and months ago, when I first conceived Dalmac, and simply didn't get scanned in until just recently. It was actually inspired by the style of old botanical illustrations, with perhaps a bit of influence from Renaissance sketchbooks. Perhaps both of us were thinking of da Vinci or Albrecht Durer's work as well?

The extra 'weathering' and shadow is fine, dear sage - just be aware that we'll then have to apply that to each page as it comes in. Perhaps if you could email me your large version, I could copy it into Illustrator and blend the edges with my other Dalmacian sketches, so that there is visual continuity.

It actually is a pen-and-ink image, done with sepia ink and conte shading directly on a coffee-tinted journal page.

It was then scanned in; I changed the signature to Dalmac Brandivere's monogram and Art edited the edges digitally.
