*Worries about the powers that be statment then repeats herself*

Your not an idiot, nobodys pissed at you.

You have a valid concept, and you've brought up issues that need to be addressed. We need to make the whole accent issue a bit clearer.

Perhaps I can discuss the issue with arti and produce a spoken alaphabet and some spoken examples of styrash next time I go to do some recording. That would make it easier for us English speakers to get our heads round the different sounds.

An excellent Idea. It can be done with a Microphone at One's home though; Uragel used to record her voice.

Anyway; was falling asleep last night and realized something that other people may not know about english that WE take for granted.

In english, the letters A E I O and U ( and sometimes Y) are called Vowels. They are seperated from the rest of the alphabet becuase they can make two different sounds;  Long and Short. This part may get a little weird, but hang on.

Short vowels take on the sound of the pronounced letter.

A= ay
E= Ee
I =  ai
O = Oh
U = you
Y= wii

Long vowels take on a drawn-out sound.

A= ahh
E= eh
I = ih
O= oh
U= ooh
Y= yuh

In english, these vowels change CONSTANTLY between long and short; Sometimes the only way we can be sure of the pronounciation of a word is to look it up in a Dictionary. This perhaps may explain why we don't use Accents.

Well, as you mention the dictionary, Viresse: There is a pronounication language as well, you know, which you can find in every dictionary. This language is universal standard, so that if someone learns another language he/she knows how to pronounce things. See here for example: Pronounciation Keys So providing some example words this way could help as well.

Files have been replaced again, but the question remains how long this will last. SMF support will have a look at the security problem.

It has been hacked. The third time in 3 days. I need to replace the changed files again (won't happen before evening) - and then see what the SMF support recommends as a strategy.

Arti, could you maybe take a look at the RPG board? I got a message from my anti-virus program and now I can't access the column on the right with the list of current threads and the shoutbox. Thankies :)
