Just wanted to mention this. Not a single thing which works perfect on Internet Explorer works on damned Netscape - and of course it works the same way with stylesheets (there's a stylesheet convention, my dear Netscape programmers!!). Many things not only don't work, they also can't be implemented because they would destroy the appearance of the site completely. And why aren't they working? Just because they must be different to Microsoft. Wonderful strategy! Good luck in the future, Netscape!

I'm on the brink of adding a link to the startpage which only IE users can click on in order to enter the site. Forget about Netscape Navigator. It's pure rubbish and doesn't earn the name of a browser. I see nothing in this product which is ready for the future of web design.

May I add to that that you can see it as well the other way around, with Microsoft being the problem? With adding all sorts of special features that only work in IE they force people to use their browser. On top of that IE is delivered as a standard part of the Windows operating system, unfortunately used by most of the pc users.

To be short I chose another browser and only use IE because hotmail won't be viewed be properly by anything else then IE, and netscape hasn't been seen on my system since a few months: Opera all the way!

It's webdesigner and -developer worst nightmare to please all customers, we have to live with it until the world is united under one single browser. Pray to god it ain't the (&*^&$%^$*& Microsoft product...

Once upon a time HTML and CSS Stylesheets standards were set up. The same standards were interpreted differently from two different companies. Because the one wants to teach the other a lesson, tell the other that it is the best. Between these companies the poor web designers are placed and he doesn't care who's the best and if the one is called Microsoft. A web designer sees the facts. And a webdesigner who sees that more than 70% (constantly increasing) are using the one product (due to a clever marketing strategy the other company has missed) sooner or later will not develop his webs for a 20% minority of people any more.

I personally think it a good strategy of people who develop something to have a look at other people's work, honor their work and see what they can do better. Netscape could have integrated all features Microsoft already has and could have tried to make it even better. This is not forbidden. Microsoft would encourage that Netscape browsers are capable of all the things IE can. Netscape didn't even try. Netscape developped version 6 of their own browser which was so buggy after publication that things working on 4.5 didn't work anymore on 6. Wrong policy. Within a few years Netscape will be gone forever.

I hope that last remark of yours won't be true, but it is possible. When it happens I hope a new company will arise to compete with Microsoft, just for economic reasons. On the other hand... we would finally have our webdesign dream: the world united under one browser...

Gean, you are forgetting something: several millions of linux-users who simply can't use IE (IE runs only on windows, thank goodness, it's so buggy!)

Artimidor is wrong as well. Since when does Micro$oft decide what the standards in HTML are?! That is the task of w3c (www-consortium). If M$ wants a new feature, it should go to w3c to ask if it can be standard, but M$ is known not to keep standards.
If you build a web-page, conform w3c-specs, it will be viewable on every browser. And don't think that if Netscape will die, everyone uses IE: www.mozilla.org holds the source-code to mozilla (which matches netscape-browser for 99%). People already edit and that will continue even if there is no netscape anymore.

And Artimidor, we won't mind a few less nifty features on the site: the information is much more important!

Files have been replaced again, but the question remains how long this will last. SMF support will have a look at the security problem.

It has been hacked. The third time in 3 days. I need to replace the changed files again (won't happen before evening) - and then see what the SMF support recommends as a strategy.
