Elves are perhaps my favorite of all fantasy races. It would be great to lend a hand, even a very minor part, in the detailing of Drow culture. :D

That would be cool!

But still, what is with this black-skinned, whitehaired, red/purple-eyed Elves? Should they be the stereotype for evil darkelves (they look very daemonic, but that would make it more interesting to give them a very own place in Santharia) or just a variation of Elves?

I'm for the later one or that they're completely on their own. Also some daemonic past would be interesting.

For the pale-skinned bad guys: I'm completely for it and AFAIK such guys were used in the SW-pics somewhere. The darkelves looked only harder, with darker hair and a general more violent alignment (see Elven captain somewhere). I always thought about them like this.

If anyone wants to do some Elven tribes, AFAIK there are still lots of them who already have names but no own history and culture. (Some ad for Art!) :)

I agree with Koldar on the variation thing.

Concerning AvFlare: I've reminded him already quite a while ago to help us develop certain ideas further, but he only showed up once since this time, so I give you free hand here in this respect.

Well, if you want you can also concentrate on the development of the drow, Obsidian! (You don't have to, as you're working on other things already, so just try to do one after the other.) But if you're interested in the drow maybe you can gather the information we've discussed here and try to work out a Compendium entry (and add own ideas)? You should also check out the entry at the Maps/Places section about Fá'áv'cál'âr - there's some important information contained about the dark elves.

Talking about stereotypes of Light and Dark elves, I don't know if you guys are into anime but a few years back, there was this Japanese animation series 'Record of Lodoss War' which was hugely popular and followed the usual high fantasy storyline with heros, wizards, thiefs, dwarfs and of course elves. My favourite character was a Dark elf, Pirotess, and she had the stereotypical colouring of white hair and dark skin but it did look very good on her!

Well, her hair is rather goldish here. It's true colour is more off-white like this :

The anime series also featured a Good Elf and SHE had the usual gold hair and bright blue eyes! Goes by the name of Deedlit.....yes, that's not a spelling error....

Elves in mini-skirts...... :rolleyes

I still like Pirotess better!

More pictures of Pirotess cause I think she's so cool! Yay! Also, because I finally learnt how to put images within a posting and it's fuuuuun! :lol

Another stereotypical pairing of the Human and Elf, a doomed relationship from the start. The guy's Ashuram the Black Knight. Did I mention that he's ultra cool as well??? You mean you can't tell that he's cool from the way he looming and brooding so menacingly over Pirotess?!

Not to sound perverted or anything, but I seem to be noticing in several fantasy anime titles that the elven characters are usually female and if so, where outfits that show an unreal amount of legs and/or cleavage. *shrug* Anyway....

If such anime series have an inordinate amount of cleavage, legs and thighs, maybe it's because their main target audience are men? Just a thought :b  On the other pole, American comic women with their impossibly rounded melon-like chests boggles the mind. It's so....so....gravity defying.....anyways....

*haha* Yeah, I guess the whole things live from the exaggerations put in them... Never understood anyway why heroines always have to be so broad-chested. The first two "Tomb Raider" games were quite funny, because they were good games, but the rest? I personally think that the "Tomb Raider"-movie will need much more than just a pair of big melons... - Hope at least that Galadriel in the LOTR movie will resemble a normal woman somehow...

Just an idea, feel free to dismiss it, a race of light elves who felt so strongly for the welfare and fate of the physical world they could not bare to be seperated and aloof from it and so were granted physical shape. This however allowed them to be subject to spiritual corruption and death in a way their light counterparts are not.

A bit overly noble perhaps, but would draw a clear distinction between normal and their dark cousins....

Sounds logical! Nice idea you might perhaps also work into your elven concepts:)

Were the elves that cared about Aer'ai'chan worried for good or bad purposes? And if good, did the evil ones develop from this group?

According to elven self-interpretation all elves cared for good purposes. Evil is just a human interpretation, you know...

Files have been replaced again, but the question remains how long this will last. SMF support will have a look at the security problem.

It has been hacked. The third time in 3 days. I need to replace the changed files again (won't happen before evening) - and then see what the SMF support recommends as a strategy.

Arti, could you maybe take a look at the RPG board? I got a message from my anti-virus program and now I can't access the column on the right with the list of current threads and the shoutbox. Thankies :)
