Are the elves endowed with any kind of history or culture? Is anyone working on them? Can I help you?

Well, not much is know about the Ylfferhim and many other elven tribes, but it would be a good idea if someone would try to concentrate on elaborating a certain tribe in detail. You can e.g. use the "Seach Site" function, Wren, in order to check where this tribe is already mentioned on the site.

The only Elven tribe currently under development is the one in the Shivering Woods (at least if 'Obsidian' is delivering the final entry some day!
) so I guess you've free hand here.
Somewhat too slow, me thinks.
I just rechecked the Elven section and was wondering if the name 'Grayelves' would fit better to the woodelves. It would fit better into the seperation of the elves into several spiritual groups.

Well, at least we have the Astyrhim tribe discribed now too since last update which was long overdue
Hmmm... Maybe some elven tibes could somehow be named after winds (breeze, storm etc.) , because they emerged from this element?

As in Tolkien it would be possible for one type of elven people to have many names, as you said showing their spiritual alignment, but also Reflecting the diffrent tounges in usage a around them. Legendry communities might have many many names as they are passed down from generations and across race types. I would expect that only very isolated communities with limited outside involvement in history and current affairs would be the only ones with one definet name.
In tolkien, not that I wanna keep going back to that, elves themselves had two names, one in High Elven given at birth and one given by the mother often in a lower tounge to describe their personality. I don't see why this could not be true of whole tribes. ANd I quite like the idea for indviduals to.

Some winds are usually found in certain areas most often. Perhaps the name of the wind could say where they live? Or perhaps it reflects on their nature. Gentle elves would be something like Breeze Elves, while those that are more warlike may be called Gale Elves.

Yup, sounds good. Maybe you could already integrate this concept when you think about the Yilfferhim? The word "Ylffer" is still not part of the elven vocabulary, so mayhaps this could have a special meaning?

Certainly, when/if I come up with an acceptable history and description for the the elves I will start work on a language, probably by mixing existing languages that they may have come into contact with, evolved from probably with my own knowledge of Welsh. Certainly there are some very similar words in Welsh, including an Old Welsh word for white. Could be related to their woodland dwelling? Or perhaps to the winds as disscussed earlier, to mark their decent and relation from light elves?

Can anyone enlighten me as to where Quallian forest is? I Can't see it on the map and there appear to be only two references to it on the site.

It is the small forest to the west of Santhala (Wondering why in any forest of Santharia elven tribes live?!?!), so it doesn't look like a big tribe but that's up to you.

This is only an overview map. There are much more woods in Santharia, but at the largest, which are shown on the map, there live elves.

The Map section currently is still a bit confusing. Will have to change that. If you're looking for maps be sure to check out the "Maps Overview" at the Maps/Places section and take a look at the "Complete Map Index" (scroll to the bottom). "Santharia" is the most important map there. It would be wise to print it out so you can take a look everytime you need it

The Ylfferhim are a small and isolated group of elves that dwell in the Quallian forest. Decended from, they believe the Astryrhim, they honour the light elven tribe by taking their coat of arms. Often it will be seen flanked by two wolves to demonstrate their independance of thought and loyalty to what they hold as true. Originally part of the Quaelhoirhim tribe; they became seperated in the time following the first Sarvonian War. Most of the tribe decend from elves who fled from the area around elving in 806 b.S.as they felt that they could not tolerate violence. Since this time noticable cultural differneces have devloped and an independant seat of govenment was established in the Quallian forest in 750 b.S. The Ylfferhim prize peace above all things and playing very little part in Sarvonian history, and the autonomous government reamin almost entirely neutral on almost all issues. Only now are these elves starting to make contact with the outside world.
The govenrment or council is conducted in Old Ylffer and final decisions in most matters are made by a monarch, the Leias, (usually female) following disscussion. Since the founding of the council their have been eighteen Leias....
I'll probably put a table in their. I make descriptions of the best ones later and add a brief political history. Won't that be fun.
