I like it for its more stylized appearance. I'd sharpen the edges of this lighte circle around the flame and the flame itsself. It's a bit too blurry at the moment. Otherwise cool.

Quick question, what kind of shield shape do these elves use, Wren? That'd be important for a border like the yellow one.

Ack, cant integrate it into old post. Wasn't logged in. (Updated Version Feb.14, 2003)

Evil thinks not to beguile us by unveiling the terrible truth of its festering intent, but comes, instead, disguised in the diaphanous robes of virtue, wispering sweet-sounding lies intended to seduce us into the dark bed of our eternal graves.

Quick question. Finnael does the golden border mean that you want the Aellenrhim shield being rectangular? Otherwise the golden border should follow the shield shape so it does not interrupt the shield.

Currently playing around with the version. Only suggestion I'd have is to work on the light cone of the candle, if possible. It is rather pixelated which does not look too well when used as texture...

The circle of light is larger on version no2, Wren...

Still here, Finnael? I guess the enlargement blured the whole thing, that's why it's not good to use. You would need to do the circle again, and keep it sharp (like at the other shield), otherwise the 3d effects don't look good...

Here's Wren' re-modeled version, which I think turned out very fine:D   Sure, the idea would be needed to be realized properly by someone with better Photoshop skills, but I guess the design is no wonderful and represents exactly what the Aellenrhim stand for;)

Koldie - I'm happy for the shield to be rectangular, but as long as the surface is curved. So if you laid it face up on the ground it would make an arc and if you placed it face down it would be a bit like a boat.......

Have I made myself clear in anyway shape or form?? Like the Roman Centurion shields......

Hmmm... I'd head for making it oval. Rectangular does not sound too elvish to me..

BTW: Wren could we talk about elvish design prefs. I have been talking with Art and thought that it would be good to eventually to make the elvish CoA more conform so they all look more like done by one certain culture?
I thought that maybe more stylized, Greek-like appearance would be fitting.

Can we keep the greek for humans...... Think celtic - flowing interlocking lives repreenting the continuum of life. Elves are the only race to believe in reincarnation you know......

I don't know celtic art with its Oak groves seem more fitting for an elven culture somehow. Plus think how great it would look with those Mira shim runes....After all the Allenrhim are home to those runes!

That's why I quite like the oval inside the retangle! You can add little celticy swirls to the corners.....

Plus it gives more darkness, other wise there is very little darkness on the shield and two WHY!?!? isn't a retangle ver elven? Is there an unwritten rule that says elves can't be geometric? I think that as long as its a curve retangle its OK.....

Hmmm... celtic sounds good, too, though if you could give me more inputs on celtic designs I'd be eternally grateful. Have not much knowledge about this culture. :)

Well, my thinking was more that rectangular shields are majorily used by heavy infantry and that sounds rather unelvish to me. I thought oval shields with various stylistic quirks(like with pointy ends, or a half moon carving  hole on one side of the shield)  and variations might be interesting way for them.
I was thinking about a distinctive shield sheme compared to the "traditional" shapes most human tribes(esspecially the Santharian ones), have...

You know we were talking about mottos koldie?

Well the three sheilds we do have (Ylfferhim, Tetherhim and Astyrhim) all have a rune or other on - just one - that stands for something.....

How about we stick to that? Rather like some far eastern art are decorated with characters that mean things like happiness, ect.....

Thats a good idea for a new version of the design Art. I think that we should make it circular rectangle as wren said, ill see what i can do, i have a little bit of time on my hands so i can do a couple changes :)
