Right I'm trying to write the Mar'gef. Its a ballad that represents the time prior to the floods to the time of the third flood....I wanted to write it in the style of the Old Welsh ballads, like those of Aneirin and Taliesin.

But I have one small problem. I know the theories, but

MY POETRY SUCKS!!!

It'd be fine if I was just writing a little poem, but the dratted thing is supposed to be a literary epic. After two month I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm just never gonna be up to it.

Can anyone give me substantial amounts of help in writing it. I have the bare bones of the thing.

No matter how bad you say your poetry is, it'll be infinitely better than mine, so don't complain. Turns out my attempting poetry is like hitting a brick wall with a shovel. Futile...

I would be privileged to assist you, Wren - if you'd like some very preliminary ideas, please check some of my recent posts in the Library thread... I've given some extensive suggestions to  Siffler on scansion, stress, and so on.  If you could send me a bit of what you have via email, I could give some more specific suggestions and ideas.
