teaser“Songs of the Sor’inyt” : songs from the Sor’inyt tribe, including: “Song of Waning” and “Song of Death.” Written in both the original Sor’inyt format and Tharian translation.

while not yet translated- i just couldn't help myself... be gentle...

Song of the Day

O bright lord
Who gazes from high
He who sits
On white throne of cloud

Hear our song
O lord of light
Hear our song
O lord of light
And fill the sky
With melody sweet

O bright lord
Radiant so fair
He who sees
Lands of gold sand

Hear our song
O lord of light
Hear our song
O lord of light
And fill the sky
With melody sweet

O bright lord
Grant us this one wish
He who cares
For Sorinyt maidens

Hear our song
O lord of light
Hear our song
O lord of light
And fill the sky
With melody sweet

O bright lord
Watch over our travels
He who loves
Sisters of the sands

Hear our song
O lord of light
Hear our song
O lord of light
And fill the sky
With melody sweet

Song of the Sands

Gold horizon
Never met
Yellow sands
Never left

We are sisters
Traveling the sands
We are sisters
Under the clear sky

Blue lit sky
Always high
White clouds
Rarely seen

We are sisters
Traveling the sands
We are sisters
Under the clear sky

Distant rock
Never close
Roaring wave
Never seen

We are sisters
Traveling the sands
We are sisters
Under the clear sky

Song of the Waning

Lo there do we see
The dying light
Of the sun
Lo there do we see
The split of sky
From the earth
Lo there do we see
Red light of lord
Beholden
Lo there do we see
Death of the day
Birth of moon

Song of Death

Oh dear sister
Sightless eyes
Follow the soul
Through the path

O wee a ya
O wee o

Of the white stars
Above sands
So far above
Meet the sky

O wee a ya
O wee o

Sleep the black dream
Be at rest
Wait for sisters
We will come

O wee a ya
O wee o

and the beginnings of the translations:

Mel’diaa Elip’in (Song of Waning)

E oto na’potre ki
Poiu luc foi
Da for’i
E oto na’potre ki
Luc laota nii
Kamd  luc gyt
E oto na’potre ki
Foi vina E’lumi
Paradus
E oto na’potre ki
Poto morn’u
Asa Lena

"Popai n'o sonko ligta luc for'is a ment'ik, popai o sonko lighta lac o mart."
Sor'inyt saying - "Ask not why the sun sets, but why it rises."

I like them, but I'm terrible at poetry, I will defer to the judgement of the Master Bard in this area.

Judgement:  Guilty of stunning, effective poetry.

Particularly the last two - tight, good use of repetition, haunting, and passionate without being sentimental.

Verdict:  Go away and translate them.  And then write some more.

:lol  :lol  Anaea from the Bard that is the highest praise I've seen coming from her. *Take a bow.*  I always knew you could.

Very Nice!  That's it, I'm never putting up any of my poetry.  *afraid all will laugh and titter after reading Anae's first*

OK having said I wouldn't sing (my throat is still really sore), but before you get bored of me erm I thought you might like a sneak preview of what I'm working on. One of my friends is working on instrumentation, but I may keep it acappella. What I wondering is do you guys like the sandstorm effect? (my housemate making weird noises into my mic!!) I will do a version in the right language if Anaea likes it when she returns, and if I can convince my puter to change recording format: I change it and click OK and my puter changes it back, stupid thing.

P.S I think I sound really young on this, like a kiddie, not sure why.

Oh, it's a bit late to reply: But the link doesn't work, Wren - could you perhaps mail it to me and I'll put it up somewhere?

BTW: Will put up your Surian-song for Drogo as we can't know when Drogo will be back. Guess everything's fine with it and he'll sure like it when he returns:)

Just a thought, any chance of seeing whether Ralrock could do anything with them? Perhaps he could make them a bit more professional sounding, at the moment they're both a bit amaturish, or at least I think so.

Short note here: Don't know if he has the possibility to improve them, Wren, but I assume he could at least fix the low volume thing with his equipment. But I currently don't want to cover Ralrok with requests as he's busy with his new homepage at the moment and I've already requested the Narfost Plain music from him etc. So I intend to get back to that later when we've integrated more of his works and he has some more time.
