Wren dear, you wanted something a bit more cheerful?  Perhaps a little lyric written just for you would be the ticket... for a possible metrical version check the tune for "O the Cuckoo is a Pretty Bird" (the medieval inspiration for the lines of the chorus) or simply enjoy putting your own lovely melody to it.  Can't wait!

A Merrie Songe for the Wrene of the Forrest
---------------------------------------------------------------------

(Composer or Bard unknown - see Master Tribell’s Collection of Verses.  Spelling has been updated to contemporary usage although the title has been left in the original.)

Chorus:
Oh, the wren she is a pretty bird,
Singing high as she flies,
She tells of good tidings,
And never she lies.

On a tree in the forest,
There the wren builds her nest,
Of twigs spare and dainty,
And down from her breast.

(Chorus)

All the birds in the forest
Brag their feathers so fair,
Yet the wren in her grey coat
Lifts light on the air.

(Chorus)

Though the lark may lift higher
And the eagle’s more strong,
The wren small and dainty
Persists in her song.

Oh the wren she is a lovely bird,
And she sings as she flies,
She brings us good tidings,
And never she lies,
And never she lies.

.

Regards from the Bard

“The three principal endeavors of a Bard are to learn and collect knowledge; to teach others; to make peace and put an end to all injury. To do contrary to these things is not usual or becoming to a Bard.”

Dear bard, you are a gem in a sea of unending (it seems) dispair :D

Ace.

Now all I have to do is work out why my computer's sound system is totalled, and get that microphone working again!
