This is a poem I wrote in 1976 and had published in 1994. It's called Recall The Tender Armour Hewn, and deals with the subject matter of lost innocence. You will find it in a book called A Far Off Place, by the National Library of Poetry. It is special to me, because this is where I started writing with my own style. I have another that also got published the next year in a book called The Best of 95'. I have others that are older than this, as far back as 73', and I will dust them off and get them out shortly. Presently I'm working on getting a new computer though. :)   BTW: If you do not care for it, I would rather not know. ;)

Recall the Tender Armor Hewn

How fewness are the ranking skirts,
That render now their modest grace,
Instead, they pass their boundless flirts,
In fair plaint of their naked space,

How tawny too, their kisses twill,
A pining rakes unbroken core,
Or pleach the flutter of it’s shrill,
And woo pursuit of wily spore,

'Tis just retain there cunning pure,
Nor breach their joist, to thistle squire,
Save that their yielding, cold and sure,
The berth, a rogue courts for desire,

How fewness to the primly sash,
So many lads have fawning bent,
To kiss the callow peepers lash,
When wistful rapt was evident,

Where gone astray, where lovers spoon,
For love and not debauched impulse,
Recall the tender armor hewn,
When hearts entwined, became one pulse.

Oh Winlok, now I read it the third time - I need a dictionary first - tomorrow.

Once you understand the meaning of the words, you get a better concept.

But at least someone commented. :)

It took a few readings, but I did get it. That's really very beautifully written. I especially like the first two lines.

I admit I'm still not sure about this stanza:
How tawny too, their kisses twill,
A pining rakes unbroken core,
Or pleach the flutter of it’s shrill,
And woo pursuit of wily spore,

And I love the last stanza.
Where gone astray, where lovers spoon,
For love and not debauched impulse,
Recall the tender armor hewn,
When hearts entwined, became one pulse.

I agree with you, I personally love the last line too.  It seems to sum up everything.

And I love the last stanza.
Where gone astray, where lovers spoon,
For love and not debauched impulse,
Recall the tender armor hewn,
When hearts entwined, became one pulse.

As for this stanza, it involves innocent kissing by a girl. And wanton lust by a 16 year old guy. Me. Although he says one thing, his motives are quite different. :)

How tawny too, their kisses twill,
A pining rakes unbroken core,
Or pleach the flutter of it’s shrill,
And woo pursuit of wily spore,

Thanks for reading it.

Winlok, I'm so sorry, and I tried hard, but I don't understand it. I looked up every word in my online dictionary I didn't know(and there were a lot and I didn't find all of them), I feel the beauty of it, but I couldn't translate it. sorry!:o

:: blushes after reading the poem:: :o  My! I think the words are good to have. If it was put in plain English it'd be far too blunt. Plus, people might even be a bit offended. At least, from what I interpret.

My youth! Oh, to be 16 again! ::is 17::

No need to worry Talia. It wasn't done in a couple of hours. More like months. Doing research on poetry, having a thesaurus, and a good dictionary.

And yes Rayne I took out a whole stanza for that particular reason. It wasn't dirty by any means but I could see how someone might interpret it wrong.

Win, your literay genius, and remarkable research shows that you have a passion for writing that I did not know.  I admire and envy you.
