Avá, lead this soul
Across this plane to the next.
Let your soft hand guide,
Caress and nurture the passing.
Give comfort as we stand in prayer
And remember times from long ago.

Clasp our hands again,
We will finally bid goodbye.
Remain strong, suppress the longing,
Wait for the reunion at our time.

Understand, all things must end
Understand, a new beginning's at hand.
Nothing is known of what awaits,
This adventure may end, but
Another awaits for you to begin.

I suppose this is a type of funeral/mourning poem. *shrugs* My first try at doing some poetry for Santharia.

Hello Dagon! the sixth post a poem, that is not bad :)

I'm not the person who is able to judge if a poem is god or not, but I can point you at some problems.

Ava is only known or worshipped by the elves (with exceptions), so your poem has to be of elven origine.

The elven and human belief about what happens needs urgently a rethinking, for not much is on the site yet.
But there are two "directions" laid out: The humand mostly belief, that with the death all ends, the elves belief in a kind of reincarnation. They are coming back to Aer'aichan. See following which I copied out of the Seyella entry:

Seyella's main function is to guide the souls after their deaths to their determinded fate: Together with Queprur (the Goddess of Death) Seyella meets the soul of the mortals in the Night of the Changing (elvish Méh'Coór) . While Queprur bereafs the soul of its last connection to the world it is Seyella's duty to decide upon the fate of the soul. At least this is the human interpretation, implying that the soul may eventually be eliminated from the world. In elven mythology on the other hand it is recounted that Seyella, although knowing of the fate of every person She meets at the Mountain of Destiny when the time has come, cannot decide upon this fate, but only speaks with every soul to provide guidance and then blesses it in order to make it return to the world of Aér'aí'chán in a new form.

So passing on to a next plane does not fit, maybe you can change it?
