I hope you don't feel too bad about it. You ever heard about the quote of Horowitz, a world-famous pianist? "Art is 1% talent, 9% inspiration, 90% transpiration." That's what this work shows, I suppose. But you did well, I think it has improved since its first version.  :clap

great! thanks Gean, ehm, I was wondering, what now? What would be a suitable background for this poem? if there is suposed to be one? I have ideas, but don't know what the standard procedure is with poems.

Nice!

I kept hearing "My Heart Will Go On" (Titanic?) by Horner in my head :)

EDIT: Now rereading the poem I think "Schindler's List Theme" by Williams(anyone remember the first name?) would have been a better mental-record choice ;P

@Coren: good idea! Schubert's 8th symphony came to mind, but as that is one of my favourite overall pieces, it isn't that hard for that particular piece to surface.

@ Ishmaelion: well I'd say find one yourself, I doubt there's a standard procedure. Maybe you can find an event in Northern Sarvonian history where this poem could refer to? It could be a soldier mourning his fate, a bard in despair at the sight on another battlefield, a noble reflecting on a day's conquest, let your inspiration flow. Perhaps take a look at Judy's Trystan Cycle for inspiration, she added little comments which created a lively atmosphere and background for the actual text of the poems.

I thuoght it might be a poem about this war:

"The War of the Chosen
The humans in the Stone Fields of Peat and the Icelands are forced to enter the War of the Chosen as mercenaries for the sorcerers. They are used in battles and magic experiments as expendable material and they prove to be hardy yet undisciplined warriors."

Taken from the Ice Tribes entry, this certainly reflects on alot mentioned in the poem. If you think it is good, I will write a commentary to the poem:thumbup

I can be very short on this one: go for it.

Don't hesitate if you think it'll fit. We like own initiative :-)

Feel free to add these few lines of commentary to the poem, Ishmaelion, then I can take it and prepare it for the update:D

Oh, and what about your piano pieces? We've been waiting for the once-and-for-all finished versions quite a bit by now! ;)
