I was wondering if we had something along the line of classes.  For example, the Druidic Orders.  A Druid would be considered a class.  I was just wondering because I was planning on developing a quarterstaff used by monks.  I could not find an entry on them in the compendium, so I was wondering if they would be possible to develop?

Monks, or the quaterstaff?

Monks, no
Quaterstaff, yes
:)

I don't see however, why druids are a "class". Class refers to the level in society you are belonging to, lower class or higher class, so druids would be probably more lower class, but not an extra category.

1.  Are monks banned or something?  I envisioned them to be almost like friars only they are bald and they are trained with martial weapons(quarterstaff ect)
2.  I believe you are refering to social class while I am referring to a different definition of the word.  When I say class, I mean general occupation or title.  For example, ranger could be considered a class, or knight, or mage.

Drasil, you are referring to rpg-classes, yet we are not building a game here. We are building a world. The fact people use our works to serve as a roleplaying guide of sorts, should not influence the way we percieve it.

Now, Monks. As we're building a world, we can hardly write an entry similar to Pikels Druidic entry to cover all sorts of monks we have avialable, for, indeed, there are many orders of monks, friars, or whatever you want to call them. Some might be bald, others might have hair long enough to trip over. Some might be dangerous martial specialists, spending their lives in a dojo, others might have sworn an oath of pacifism, and pass their hours feeding the birds. There are just to many religious orders to compile them all into one 'class', especially if you take into account verry few of these orders have an entry already.

@ Mira:  Thanks for the comment, however I was not refering to all religious brothers, just those who preform martial type things.  Also, I believe you are right when you say the word class is incorrect here.

Drasils, the basics of a clerical structure has to be laid out before you can start with a specific topic. Sure, we have already some orders, but the more new ones we have, the more difficulties I will have once I do the basics, so for now, please stay away from this difficult subject.

I guess Miraran is quite right - you try to see RPG game classes, which are pretty much a reduction of medieval reality, Drasil. They might fit into an RPG game and are quite valuable there, but as we're not developing a game as such, classes make little sense to make them into an entry. Fighting monks I also don't really see as worshippers of the Twelve, just like I've never seen a Middle European monk beating someone with his quarterstaff... 8o

Perhaps there might be some branches of religion where beliefers have something to defend or fight for, yet we still have to discover those.

Well Arti., once our beloved Lady of the South brings forth clerical templates. I might have a few concepts and ideas to lay on the table as Talia had mentioned she might like me to put my hands to the clerics of Foiros. Maybe an oppurtunity for me to show some of my fantasy interests revolve around things greater than an oun?;)

*claps for Twen*  Knowing the way you write, you could become the next Bard Judith.  :thumbup   I can't wait to see your entry.  Is it going to be your masterwork?  Or are you going to do something with Necromatic magic?

Necromancy! Necromancy! :b   Already in the writing, just waiting for Coren to debate some aspects of it. Since a couple of his clever ideas have inspired my thoughts in some interesting directions. Necromancy is going to be written in 3 seperate viewpoints. The Necromancers, Ximaxian and clerical to the best of my abilities with what is on site.

OoO I'll keep an eye out for it 8o  I can't wait to read it!  I always liked the idea of Zombie backscrubbers.  It'll also allow those annoying Necromancy spells(no offense Twen.  Just talking about thier location ;)  ) to get out of the Earth section so that I can continue to expand it.

The Necromancy spells in Earth at the moment are probably going to still remain in limbo. Not that I am not putting my best effort into incorporating all the aspects of Necromancy I can find on site. As fire is being used for Necromancy, those spells seem to not fit that critique.:(

I always thought of necro as a more clerical thing. Ximax should be looking over the shoulder of any person playing with it, so necromantic cults should have a hard time surviving. Also, necro is probably easier with clerical magic as well. I always though of clerical magic having it a bit easier doing more complicated things, although with less control.

Hi, dear Arti and other developers!

This year I am in China and cannot use any Google services including YouTube. For this reason I stopped uploading new Nepris videos. I can also not read any comments there.

It just crossed my mind that this information might be useful to you.

Cheers
