I had a talk this weekend with Gnaevio about the numbers again, and here's his accurate historical answer: Indeed the amout of people living in medieval towns (Europe) didn't exceed 50.000. However, it is true that the towns (metropolis' - plural?) of the ancient Rome, Athens etc. reached 1.000.000 people (when you take all suburbs into account etc.). But it is a historical fact that the amount of people was much lower in medieval times due to several reasons.

So, that's what we learn from this: Santhala at the time of Artimidor Federkiel (>1650 b.S.) is a classic medieval town, with 60.000 inhabitants. But of course the Sarvonian continent had its metropolis' (I've already mentioned this in the Compendium when describing the War of the Chosen). But of course this enormous towns were destroyed, e.g. at the Third Sarvonian War when the orcs came from the north, plagues broke out and people began to leave the continent in order to discover new worlds (migration).

Sounds reasonable, isn't it - so what do you say?

That sounds reasonable indeed, but I would still like to see Santhala flourish like *our* mediterranean metropolis' and not remain an undeveloped west european city *grin* ;-)
Economic theories say -if I 'm not wrong- that rich places attract people till there's no more gain. So it is another argument for population growth.
I would suggest that 100.000 would be fine, just to have and a magnificent capital.

Long live Santhros!

Ok, 100.000 would be ok I guess. By the way: Artimidor lives in New-Santhala and not in Santhala any more, so we'll have to integrate to Santharian history somehow that Santhala once was utterly destroyed...

This can be arranged. Perhaps if you give me a time guidline I can fit it in the Milkengradian history. I 've been looking for something like that and now all of a sudden I find it...
