Soap in Santharia.

The concept of soap is first credited to the Aellenrhim elves, who are known to have been making cleansing materials early in the age of Awakening. Animal fats were combined with alkaline salts and boiled in clay cylinders to produce a bar of soap like material that could be used for washing. However, many elven tribes have similar materials for cleanliness, for example the Arhrhim and Goltherhim living in the shadow of the Argor and Heckra volcanoes respectivly are known to make a think, jelly-like cleaning fluid by mixing ashes and oil.

The reason the Aellenrhim are most normally associated with its invention is because it was these elves who brought it to humans, firstly in Voldar, but later all over Santharia.

There are many variations. One noteable tribe of humans, the Trk'Matiu Kuglimz use tallow mixed with oil which they use to wash, but also, if left to tint their hair with. The most common soap making method is that now employed in Voldar, made from sea salts and fats and oils from animal or plant sources. The main sources of fats in modern Santharia are beef and mutton tallow; while palm and Adlemir Simn kernel oils are the principal oils used in soapmaking. Sahnrix sap and candlebush berries (if well diluted) can also be used.The raw materials may be pretreated to remove impurities and to achieve the color, odour and performance features desired in the finished bar.

Humans often scent their soap using herbal fragrances. Rose petals are a common scent in Northern Santharia, while icemilk and various fruits and berries can also be used.

About the human tribe, perhaps Drogo could give us one of his cleaner Kuglimz tribes for this deed. I am not sure, but the word tallow made me think northern....

Add some frangance please (rose oil, icemilk)!For the body care at least. Maybe there should a difference as well for cleaning clothes and cleaning your face!and give the fine soaps some nice names!

[Bard Judith]

Judith 'borrows' Eh-lix's sling to entrap the dusty legs of an innocently browsing Strata cow.

She then hauls it over to the Shendar tent where Aenea and Talia are having a nice cup of Bai'en-cha together, and whispers in their ears.

A few minutes later the curtain rises on a scene of almost unparallelled chaos (the Tavern had to have been worse).

Drogo is holding the poor cow firmly by its horns.  The three ladies and the rest of the cow are immersed in a gigantic 'poof' of soapsuds, bubbles rising shoulder-height before popping around the cow's ears.  This is a good thing, as all of them are quite wet, and T-shirts have unfortunately not been invented in Santharia as yet.

The tea-kettle has been kicked over.  Judith's sturdy skirt has a hoofmark on it.  Talia is brandishing a large bar of "Icemilk Froth" and Aenea's tall figure is almost obscured by flying bubbles.  The tent is slowly sagging to one side.

Far in the distance, an enraged Aeylycks is racing across the plain on a very large Kev'lar steed, raising dust.  Apparently he wants his sling back...and he's shouting something about people who can't spell....

 One of the soaped up horns escapes my mighty grasp for a moment and with a shake of the head water sprays on the unsuspecting crowd, drenching Ralhag and several others. "Slippery lil sucker isn't he."  I would use the Trk'Matiu Kuglimz for the tallow reference, as they use the fat of the Nul'tum for making candles.  Why not some soap too?
